Hey Shari! You are very lucky that you have small forearms.  The skin on your upper arms can be taken care of in no time.  Build up the muscles in the arms and by the time the skin is sliced away you'll be good to go. I wouldn't be worrying about getting it done anytime soon (yes, I know you aren't), because your body will continue to change and change and change until over a year out of your goal.
