(((HUGS))
I very reluctantly went to my dad's family reunion Labor Day weekend. My dad (turns 70 on Sunday) gave a compliment when he first saw me then spent the afternoon retracting it with one comment after another.
It sounds like we've all had our share of nasty dad comments. When I was a little kid, my parents bought me a swing set. Mind you I've always been heavy. I went to go swing in the swing, and my dad told me, "you need to get off of there before you break it!!!"...I've never forgotten that. He also made a comment to a friend of his when I was about 12 or so..his friend said something to the fact of "looks like she's been eating good".. or something like that and my dad said "yeah, we usually have to push her away from the table!"...he thought it was funny, but I never really forgot about it or maybe got over it. I guess maybe that's why I'm so self conscious or low self-esteem now. But, you have lost sooooo much weight you should feel great about yourself and not think about his nasty, hateful comments. You have made soo much progress (I don't know you, but 85 lbs is alot of weight to struggle with and lose)... I guess maybe that's why we're all on here to lean on each other and learn from each other...keep your head up and keep going......
