I really like cereal. Wait...I really like any kind of food to be brutally honest lol. But anyways. Special K. Replace 2 meals with a bowl of Special K cereal.....does it really work? Or does it not? Christa is going to try it. They say to eat a bowl for breakfast and lunch....and have a regular dinner. Well. I am going to change it up a bit. Because I want to do it MY way. :) I will start eating breakfast in the morning A bowl of either Special K Red Berries or The Chocolate kind or any other sweet kind I can find that they make lol. Then for lunch something normal like uh...a Lean Cuisine panini or something. A sandwich....or salad whatever I feel like that day. Then yes I will incorporate a couple snacks or one...like at 3 pm some fruit or veggie or something. Then dinner I will eat cereal again. Unless I switch it up and have cereal for lunch and have a regular dinner. Then I will either walk or go to the gym I can still walk outside because it is like 90 degrees in freaking Michigan in October...trust me it will snow next week then the follow week be 90degrees gotta love Michigan. Pfft. Anyways..oh and TOPS I was talking to my mother about it. She was all like yea lets go but wait until after my birthday I'm like UH! I wanted to go this week....her Birthday is Thursday. She's like I wan to have cake and what not...I'm like uhm you can have cake! haha oh well. Which I think this cereal thing will work. Because I eat cereal then on the weekends I can go  out to dinner but still have healthy things ya know. :) This might work...2 weeks....it's only 2 weeks. I can do it right!? I mean I wanted to be a certain weight by Halloween and thats 236 I might not get there...still hoping but I might try for 246 now. :) Anyways opinions are wanted.....

Christa -

you asked for my opinion - so here it comes.  You need to STOP with the diets!  You need to stop looking for the magic bullet.  It does not exist. What you CAN do is commit to eating healthy, every meal, every day and eating enough small meals to keep your metabolism up and running. It frustrates me to see you flitting from one "plan" to the next.  Just eat.  Eat well and live well.  Stop with the madness already

See it works for you....this is who I am...I do diets. One after the other. That is just how I am and I can't change that...or more less dont want to. I can't eat every two hours it's just not in me. I refuse to eat when I am not hungry. It may work for you...which is totally awesome. And to be honest I have done the whole eat healthy and exercise you know what happened....nothing I did it for over two weeks before I even found this site back last winter...nothing happened my weight stayed the same. It doesn't work for me my body doesn't work that way.I have to actually diet and exercise ALOT in order to lose something I have learned that. I remember how I lost 20 pounds....starving basically. Because thats the only way my body will lose something. I didn't eat much. Like half of a tuna sandwich for lunch and dinner would be like chicken and broccoli....and an hour or more of exercise everyday religiously...I just cant do that!!! So I am going to do this the cereal thing...low calorie almost like starving but not. It just works with me....But I do appreciate your opinion :)

Sorry if I sounded short.  I didnt mean to be.

I guess I worry about you because I dieted my way to 340 pounds over the past 20 years, instead of loving myself enough then to give myself the nutrition I deserved.  I dieted metabolism into the ground... As long as the diets are working for you and you are consistently losing weight and keeping it off that is all that matters. Good luck.

I totally understand your concern. It's weird with me its almost like I have no metabolism no matter what I do. I have talked to my mother about this. Because all thru high school I wasn't a big girl or anything just thick normal 150-165ish.  And I played sports and would sweat my ass off and I ate pretty healthy....nothing moved no loss no gain. And I worked out ALL the time with sports.  I got to 276 by over eating and using food as my crutch for some of my feelings. . And now I do have some control over it because I refuse to go back that weight. And i will never see 276 again if it kills me. So cereal here I come lol.

It's weird with me its almost like I have no metabolism no matter what I do. Number one way to destroy your metabolism? A lifetime of repeated crash diets.

Hmm....doesn't sound like me. You know why...because I haven't been struggling with  my weight for a lifetime or dieting my whole life. Only for the past um....3 years maybe? Since I was 18. So 3 years verses lifetime. Like I said before back when I was younger I ate healthy or regular never really dieted never really had much of a weight problem. I was in the same weight range for like 6 years 150-170 It would fluctuate Which was size 11-13 Not a big deal to me I liked being thick Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez style. I played sports. I just have no metabolism. Might be a thyroid problem? Never know..never been tested because I dont believe that's it.  So now I am trying to get back on track wheatever it takes....maybe I am screwing the whole metabolism up even more? Probably...but what is there to screw up when its not even working in the first place?  I have some feelings toward a different topic that I want opinions on...i am going to post a new topic.

Just so you reduce caloric intake without eating so little that NOBODY could do it...call it a diet or don't call it a diet, it is toward the same end.  We all are trying to reduce calories somehow. For YOU, just eating anything on a regular basis that is fairly substantial is progress. LOL. Cereal meal replacement is waaaaay better than the south beach bar thing.  It's disgusting to never see that stupid scale move.

"See it works for you....this is who I am...I do diets. One after the other. That is just how I am and I can't change that...or more less dont want to." The definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results. Your "this is who I am" argument also needs to include, "and what I am is consistently frustrated and overweight"...and THEN you can get on with the work you need to do.  What you are saying is,"I define myself by this behavior that isn't working for me." Can you see how that might get in your way? Once you really understand that about yourself, it will get easier. You have to let go of the crap that got you where you don't want to be.
