Water Challenge

Hey I read somewhere the other day that to maximize weightloss you should drink half or your weight a day in ounces of water.  Example: 180 pound person would drink 90 ounces.  I challenge you to start doing that everyday.  My goal of water drinking is 150 ounces a day.  Now you all know how much I weigh.  I am up to about 120 ounces a day.  I have already today had 96 ounces.   Come join me in this challenge and maybe we will see more weight lost.   Who is up for the challenge?

Yikes... I've not seen this recommendation for fluid intake..ever!  For generally healthy adults we as Registered Dietitians usually calculate fluid needs using an equation based on a certain number of cc's per kilogram of body weight (this was posted on the Diet & Nutrition Forum last week).  Weight loss depends on MANY factors such as how many calories you eat, how much exercise you do, not specifically how much fluid is consumed.   Good luck!

The water thing is very controversial as you see by the other posts. I am a child of the 70's and we were told tha****er 'flushes" out cells and fat, alas, I WI**** were so. My doc told me that too much water can leach out potassium, so do be careful.

Remember water is in lots of our foods - most notably veggies and think of how vitamin-drenched tha****er is.

I try for about 32-50 ounces daily, and on top of that, my coffee and diet drinks help fill it in.

Ok so bad idea maybe... I can't drink 150cc either.  After about 120 I'm floating.  I eat a healthy diet and exercise so the added fluids are just a bonus.  I will be careful.  Thanks for all you all's input.

To be honest.... I drink 64oz  of water at work and 64 oz  or sugar free drink at home.  So I am getting about 128 oz of liquid a day....... This controversial it works for me!

I'd have to drink 160-something ounces of water a day.  Holy **** no.  I'd be on the crapper 24/7!
