I'm plying him with all the information I can find, but ultimately that choice will be his.
Five years ago, he planned to have RNY and change insurances during open enrollment and was laid off the next week. This time, he did all his homework and busted his ass to provide everything the insurance company needs-- and was denied because his employer's HR department-- who said, "To see what's covered, check the website!"-- were wrong, and there's an exclusion in his policy. He's too heartbroken right now to know what to do right now, and I don't blame him. This destroyed our plans, cost us hundreds of dollars in cash and time, and gave false hope to a very kind and good man who desperately needs solutions.
For now we're exercising and dieting--- more or less in vain. His 1600 calorie diet-- including 45 intense minutes of cardio a day-- have resulted in a two month stall. In fact, we kept saying, "Good thing that RNY is happening soon" because he simply hasn't been able to move the scale at all, despite being absolutely resolute and dieting conscientiously. It's enough to make you cry.
We're working as hard as we can, while he has time to think what his next move will be. I'm not pushing, just accepting and walking beside him, literally and figuratively. I feel absolutely horrible that I had the surgery before he did, and he's fallen behind. It breaks my heart.

Shari....
bless ya'lls heart... Honestly I do not think the working out and eating better has not been in vain.... maybe he can shock his system by doing a liquid diet for 3 or 4 days... just to break the plateau... I cannot say that I know the disappointment ya'll are feeling... but I hope that you both stay encouraged...
