It's like Christmas... my birthday...

I just read what Shari wrote about her health improvements since she has lost weight... it is SO AWESOME!  I am REALLY excited to see (hopefully!) a lot of my health issues improving as time goes forward! So, is it odd to feel almost as though this weight loss thing is like Christmas?! I just feel like I have SO MUCH to look forward to! And WHY NOW?  Why not 20 years ago when I started gaining the weight to begin with?  I've wasted so much time!  (But... I can't look back now... just FORWARD!) I just feel SO excited about this whole WL thing... as each day comes I can't seem to think of much else!  I spent TWO HOURS yesterday- just trying on clothes I had stored in my closet. I chucked the bigger ones in the garbage (some in a bag for the thrift store) and with every positive step- it feels like Christmas! Or as they say- like a kid with her hand in the candy bowl (well, guess THAT one won't work LOL)   But you get the idea :) It's like I've just learned this secret or something... like something that will really WORK this time!  And it's been here all along! I just haven't felt this excited about something FOR ME in a very a long time!  Seems really weird My hubby seems proud of my efforts... he has said several times now that he might join with me :) (I'll believe that when I see it- not sure how many points beer has, but it's football season and he's NOT going to give that up for ANYTHING :)  I made my hotel/ferry reservations today for our little hiatus away from home :)  It's costing me over $800 to go to a town only 100 miles away... that's tickets & hotel! GULP!  That doesn't count lost wages or eating and FUN... or shopping......... but do I CARE???   NOT! Oh! BTW... I did some walking today! It felt GREAT! But by the time I got to the school to get my dd from kindy... I looked like a drowned rat! It was a tad bit WET out there but we walked almost a mile total. I pushed two kidlets in a double stroller and one walked w/me. Hmmmm... wonder if I burned any more pushing a load of about 60 pounds?  :) It's only 7:30 but I think I'm off to bed anyway. Feeling really drained tonight for some reason.

that is very cool! I have had that feeling too.  I like to make the most of that feeling when I choose well at supper, go off to bed with a slightly hungry belly...then wake up knowing I did GOOD instead of walking up full of regrets.  You make me feel excited, too!

Taking care of yourself is a full time, job, and when you do it well, it IS exciting! I probably spend 3-4 hours a day either researching, exercising, meal making or meal planning. My own fitness is my new hobby.  You know when you get on a plane, and they tell you that if the air masks drop, to secure yours first before helping children? Personal fitness operates similarly-- if you aren't in good health, everything else you do is harder and less pleasant!
