Ok, need to vent.. Why is it SO HARD to get started??!??!?!?!? I am actaully back to my starting weight of 270...honestly, WTF??!?!? No excuses, I just am apparently incapable of getting a hold of myself and getting going. I have started tracking my food intake, and I was very surprised to see I am not eating all the badly, about 1850 calories a day, I have to up my protein and lower my  fat a bit. But I CAN NOT get to moving... I am CONSTANTLY decdiding against it. Why do I do that to myself??? I know better, I have all the tools, but nope... I mentally can;t get off my butt and do it. It is almost like I am afraid to start... do that make any sense or am I a headcase??? It is exercise... in my head, it feels unreachable. I know... headcase....... ok, 'nuf of my whining,  How are you guys?????

I am doin fine!  back to YOU, though.... can you set a small goal:  10 minutes, no whining, then do that.  i'll bet $100 you do more than that if you make that deal with your self! take me up on it?

It's really hard to get started!!!  I've been in the same place as you not too long ago.  For me, I needed help even though I knew how to do everything right I wasn't.  I guess that I needed the accountability and maybe even to talk about it more than I thought.  It's really hard to look at the big picture and I spend a lot of my time doing that and work on it a lot.  I have to really look at knowing I'm being healthier.  Then I look for the scale to budge-just one pound less.  That big number would make me have a mental breakdown.  LOL Now I am exercising at least 5 days/week but usually walk the dogs on the off days about 1.5 miles.  Also, I make goals for the week like making sure I eat at least one salad each day (tough one for me), make sure I write down my food each day, drink at least 64 oz of water, etc. I've lost 8.4 pounds in the 3 weeks that I've been sticking with it and I'm hoping to get to 10 pounds lost this week (Hopefully!)  It still sounds like such a tiny number to me even though I know they all add up.  I haven't had fast food since I started and I've improved my fruit and vegetable intake greatly.  It's still a challenge watching my family have ice cream sundaes and things like that, but it's so worth it.  Each day is a new day.  I try to have a plan for everything and realize that tomorrow is a new day. When you're ready, you'll get there and start taking step towards improving your situation. Beth :)

All I can say is, Me too!  I'm quite disgusted with myself.  I haven't posted for awhile because I feel like I shouldn't unless I have something new to say.   I'll make ya a deal, let's see which one of us takes the first step!  Keep me posted!  Maybe a little challenge will get me off my big ole keister!

YOU CAN DO IT!  I forced myself in the beginning to start exercising and after that the ball starting rolling.  It's all in your mind.  You have the control in you to make good food choices and whether or not you choose to exercise.  I'm not saying it isn't hard, espcially the first week.  As you begin to lose weight your motivation increases more and more.  When you exercise it tends to make you want to eat healthier.   I hate to exercise, but I force myself to do it at least a little.  I'm definitely no exercise guru by any means.  Just a reasonable amount until it becomes easier as I drop the weight.  I know it does truly make me feel better and I have more energy.  It helps with my confidence and overall feelings about myself.  Start out slowly and see what happens. When the incentive for you is great enough, you will do what needs doing. If you are not ill or in pain, it's very hard to find the push you need-- I sure as hell couldn't. I weigh 270 as we speak, and I feel terrific. It would (and did) take much more discomfort and misery to get me to lose the weight.

Chicky, I'm with you.  I'm plump as plump can be and yet I won't get my rearend up and go to the $50/month gym I belong to.  Don't kill yourself over it.  You'll get moving eventually.  Like Neecee said - start it out slow and work it up.  I need to practice what I preach, though.  Christ I'm pathetic...

Hey Jean -- I think you're on to something.  How about starting an exercise challenge for those of us who are finding it hard to get and/or keep moving.  Everyone can set a goal for themselves, something that's not too easy but not too challenging (don't want to get discouraged).  How about a certain amount of minutes of exercise per week.  It wouldn't be a challenge between each other but a challenge for ourselves -- so the number of minutes pledged per week will vary greatly from person to person.  Someone could start the "Weekly Exercise Challenge" post each week and everyone can report their progress as the week unfolds.  For those who are willing we could start on Monday.
