Rejected
Hello I am from the vsg forum, i went to three doctors and all of which said no way would they operate on me again. I am so dissapointed, i dont know how to do this and cant do it on my own since dh is not supportive of me loosing says i need to but destroys every temp by loading me with tempation, i want to loose apx 50lbs if i can do that i will be happy is there anyone who can help me?
I'm sorry about the rejection. I can pull that old "when god closes one door he opens another" crap, but i'm not paticularly religious.
What I am is unendingly positive. I can sit here and say that you ONLY have 50 pounds to lose, when I had 150, but that wouldn't be very supportive, would it?
You already said "I can't do this on my own since dh is not supportive.......". If you go into any challenge with that attitude you are destined to fail. So, what are my suggestions and how can I help you???? It's actually fairly simple.
Eat less, exercise more, track your food and start taking care of YOU!!!! Losing weight is the simplest of concepts, less input, more output. I say that tongue in cheek of course because for many of us it is the hardest thing in the world to do.
You can either start now or keep on gaining up to the point where you DO have to lose 150 pounds. It's totally up to you. If you can't do it on you rown, get help from a psychologist. If you want to do this badly enough you will. Your BMI is 37. After losing 140 pounds my BMI is 32, it started out at 57. Your BMI is not all that high and you'd need severe co-morbidities to even get approved for any WLS. Obviously there are medical issues preventing you from getting WLS anyhow.
Come back for support, see how strong you can be on your own, regardless of what your DH does.
Good luck!!!
i dont just have 50 i want to at least try and loose 50 , i have comorbities my tryglicers just went to 1575 ya dangerously, and cholesterol is like 320, it went up like 20 i have been told no surgery due to other pevious dangerous, surgerys last being an gone wrong hernia operation. i am 203 as last weigh in, only 5'1 bmi of 38.7 so i do need to loose look like a apple with scrawny stems for leggs, i just need someone to talk with and give me moral support
Welcome to the board. I'm glad you came over here. You might want to check out peoples profiles as many say what they have done to lose weight. Now for me, I've lost 40 lbs since May (currently in a stall, but that too shall pass). What has helped me is to keep a food journal and count calories. As they say, you need to eat so many calories to lose, stay the same, or gain weight. I currently try to stay between 1,300 - 1,500 daily. I also try to get some type of vegetables and fruit in. If you have a complicated medical history, you might want to go to a dietician to discuss what is the best plan of action, food wise, to get healthier and lose weight for your situation.
As to your husband, I'm sorry he isn't being more supportive. I've had that on and off with my DB. What helps me is to not really talk about my weight loss much. AND, when he tries to tempt me I say no. If he keeps at it my cranky pants come out of the closet and I ask if he wants me to live to old age? Sometimes you've got to be blunt and then just walk away. Luckily my DB is coming around and more supportive than in the beginning. I think they just don't want us to get our hopes up and if we've told them time and time again we were going to lose weight, only to stay the same or gain, it gets them frustrated.
Now besides looking at your food choices, you know the second part to the equation...get moving. That can come in the form of different exercises. I must admit I've got to really work on this one, but I know I'll get there.
All the best,
Melinda
why let your DH call YOUR shots???? Break that old pattern and let him know what will be different around there.
If you don't buy certain foods, he will have to go fetch them. If you need to go for a walk at suppertime prep, you will be buying more ready to serve foods, like rotisserie chickens and cooked roasts. If he wants to go out a lot, find things that won't break your food plan up too badly at the places he takes you.
There must be 1000 ways to change a habit or two...we can hlep you!
I have recently lost 40#, could stand to lose another 15 anyway. Has taken me a year. Be thankful you don't have another 100 on top to try to lose, but i know how hard 50 is, believe me. It's all one's persepctive.
Best of luck and stay around.
Trust me I know how it is to live with a DH (I say that lightly) that does NOT give ya any support or anything else for that matter. It is my life as it is yours to be healthy, not his girl. Do what you have to do with or without him and I know its not always easy. The last almost 2 years that I have went thru WLS only to lose my Lap Band I drove myself to the hospital and home and kicked the DH out when he said I told ya so. Just what ya want to hear coming out of the OR waking up from emergency surgery. NOT I now deal with temptations on a daily basis but it is MY choice not to give in. I have Co-morbidities also that have come back with avengence. When my blood sugar gets high and I get dizzy oh well I will get over it. One has to learn to go on for your self and not anyone else even tho it is hard but hey if I can. Go to the gym or walk around the park or the mall and yes it does get boring being alone but it is better to be alone then to hear negatives. Hang in there........
thanks for the support ladies, I have been going to mall or home depot any big store to break up the scenery, lol , i do get upset with him cause he has a pooh belly lol but he has learned so far not to bring it up made me mad one day he was talking to someone about me and said you know its true though all big women are cute he really is a good man dont get me wrong just , i have to turn him down when he says lets go out and get something to drink or eat, like tonight Ravens vs Bangles , this one chick aint going, im trying as well going to a weight loss clinic Stem Ross they give you Phetemine and Chromium or how ever its spelled took it yesterday and went to work on day off . I really do like this board that someone can share thier problems and talk with each other, and maybe post a good hint or two . thanks again
I noticed that you said they wouldnt operate on you again....
You have had a wls and did not lose? You did lose and had a regain???
Are you using a food journal to track EXACTLY what you are eating? Do you know why your surgery failed?
What I've eaten is here for the world to see
336.1 (8-1-07)/319.0 (12-28-07)/200 (goal for 12-31-08)/160 (goal)
Next mini goal is 290 by 1-31-08
