South Beach Day 1
VSG on 03/13/12
So yesterday was my first day of South Beach...I probably ate a couple things that aren't on the list for phase 1 but I didn't see too much harm in them. It was ok at first but I had a hard time at night.
Breakfast
- Red Bull Sugar Free I know I know....breakfast..
Snack
- Some lightly salted nuts. On the container it says "South Beach Diet Recommended"
Lunch
- Small bowl of turkey chili
- Sugar Free Jello 10 calories no carbs
Snack
-String Cheese
Dinner
- Well this is where it gets crazy. I cooked like 4 little chicken tenderloins with some cheese on it.
- I ended up eating two pieces of the chicken because it just didn't taste right.
- I sat there for like an hour and ofcourse I am hungry...so I was like ok I will have a mini bowl of chili.
- While that is warming up....I spot the un opened box of Cheddar Jack Cheese ITs....This is where I binged a bit. I started eating them then I looked at the label and went CHRISTA what in the hell are you doing! I ended up closing them up I didnt eat the full serving I just crammed some in my mouth and then looked at the label... :) So I was proud that I stopped myself.
I didn't exercise I was just too exhausted I have been working 12 hour days. It's crazy! So I am hoping to get some exercise in on Saturday morning. Which I will weigh in for the monthly thingy and see what it says I imagine it will be just the same. But i do look forward to next Saturday's weigh in. So every morning I will try to post what I ate the day before so it's kinda like a little journal to me. :)
Baby steps Christa. You have to really LEARN how to do South Beach. It's not easy like WW where it's all normal kinds of food. With SB you have to ease into exactly what you can eat and what tastes good, what is filling, what works, what is on the list, etc. It's a learning process and many get frustrated right out the gate because they think they failed when they realize something isn't on the list and they ate it.
However, Cheese It's are NOT on the list. LOL
I love that you are so honest, with us and yourself. That is a huge step Christa, be proud of it.
Keep on keepin' on is my only suggestion. You have a lot of time to figure this out, you will.

Christa,
What dif you do to loose those first 20 pounds.. your ticker says you are 20 pounds lighter,,,,
Also, It's great that you are being honest, I think that helps with feeling guilty, which if you didn't fess up to it, you wold probably eat to feel better.... I used to do that all the time
South Beach can feel very restrictive at first, but the point of the two weeks on phae 1, is to lessen your dependence and cravings for sweets and carbs... if you hang in there long enough, you will get it!
Sugar and startch cause inflamation, and thats why when you complete phase 1, you always feel de-poofed, because the inflamation has lessened.
Stay organized and on track.... If you have any more questions, let us know.

I was a gym addict. I was obsessed. And I was eating low calorie and not very much kind of starvation I guess you could say. I wouldn't eat breakfast....I would eat maybe half a sandwich at lunch. Then for dinner maybe some chicken and veggies, and would go to the gym for an hour EVERY day! 20 pounds came off....but see I just can't do that to myself anymore...even though I think next week I am going back to the gym.... :) I like the gym. Just so far away!
And to be honest I do feel good today, not so bloaty and let me tell you! I pee'd a million and a half times yesterday which speaking of that...I SO have to go right now! lol! :)
I like this south beach thing.... so far so good. Wait I do have a question can I have the jello? Is it a bad thing to eat? What about gum? I have sugar free gum I like to chew? :) Thanks
You can have sugar free jello and
You can have sugar free gum
When I was eating sugar free stuff, I had some sugar free hard candies at my desk that would tie me over until snack time. If you do get sugar free candy, you are not allowed to get any sugar free chocolate.. that is not phase one.. stick to gum, hard candy, and sugar free twizzlers.. although a word of advice on those things. If you eat too many sugar free candies, you get this weird yucky full but not full feeling... I can't describe it... so watch out for those..
You can also buy sugar free jello pudding mix in a box.. you mix it with skim milk and thrown it in the fridge until its rady to eat, and the powdes have more of a selection than the already prepared ones. I also mix in 1/2 cup of suar free cool whip in there, and it's so good, it's almost like having mouse.

I love turkey chili, I have this big pot at home of it...I am having it for dinner tonight because it's quick because I am going out. For lunch today I brought some Cajun Turkey deli meat I bought with some cheese. And a jello. Yummy. But yea I could live off of the chili which I probably will...fall is coming and so is winter so it's a nice warm thing to eat. :)
