Update-- I'm home!

I'm getting a little worried because my calories are creeping up (and the scale? Not movin' much.)  I was at my parents' this weekend and we ate out literally every meal, and it was a challenge to find things I could eat, let alone ones that'd be "good for me". I'm trying new things (a spoon of this and a spoon of that) off of other people's plates-- I still haven't felt full, after six weeks. It worries me-- I am feeling pretty hungry as we speak, but am afraid of the sf popsicles because going over 800 would be outrageous for me. GAH! HELLLLP! GAHHHH! (Note: Will see nutritionist tomorrow.) Today: B: A large meatball with sauce and 3.5 kashi whole grain crackers (Meatball was leftover from dinner last night) L: 1 oz grilled chicken and 3.5 kashi crackers (Picked chicken out of a wrap at Sonic, but it wasn't going well, so I ate crackers to fill some space) S: 7 Kashi krackers and Laughing Cow cheese wedge (My first snack ever-- was starving) D: 3 Baked lay's tortilla chips, 2 oz extra lean ground beef, teaspoon of salsa,ff sour cream/2% cheese (which'd be great with a popsicle after if I wasn't so popsicle paranoid) S: Unjury protein shake w/skim milk Ends up on the high side for me, but such is travelling life... Calories: 782  Fat:25 (damn meatball!) Carbs: 57  Protein:75 In other news-- I have a CT scan scheduled tomorrow. The big hematoma (we think!) I had that was going away somehow got tweaked and is very painful (like "just-outta-surgery painful) again. I can't exercise until we figure this out, and I have to wear the freakin' binder again-- 6 weeks out! GAH!  Wish me luck!

It's moving a little better now that I am getting my 64 ounces of water in, but not even close to average. Average weight loss: If you start at 300, I should be 269 today

I'm 279.5. Buh-low average. Like a D minus. Apparently, all the motivation in the world ain't gonna he'p me now, mama. Banging head against table (gingerly as not to pop the Velcro on my abdominal binder) -S.

maybe the evil hematoma thingy weighs 40 lbs... and when they realize that and poke it with a stick it will go away and you will be lighter... ok - clearly you are glad I am NOT your doctor... but it would be nice if my diagnosis were correct!

first of all...glad to see YOU! I was kinda worried about you as you left in such a questionable state.  Whew...you're okay. past that, your diet sounds fine to me. I would not want to eat much less than that.  i am also not very concerned about your slow loss.  That's the breaks for some people.  I get pretty confused as to WHY that is, but there you are. Yay...glad you are home.  Wish that pain was resolved. hate that you have to go thru that.

The slow loss as far as I can tell could likely only be attributed to a couple things:

1) I might be retaining a hell of a lot of fluid in my belly with this freakin' thinger (very possible-- pants are very snug, shirts are loose)

2) I wasn't drinking nearly enough water (I was getting 35-40 oz on GOOD days--I can now do 64 but Jesus, it's awful)

3) My pre-op weight loss. Most RNYers don't lose 68 pounds before surgery in 4 months. In fact, the only one I know who even came close was only down two more pounds than I am at the same stage, so there might be something to that. It's hard to stay vigilant when it gets you nowhere, but I'm hanging in.

Hi Shari! I was happy to see a post from you!  I was thinking about you being away, did YOU do the driving??  You are an-eee-mahl!! Do you really have to drink contrast for the CT scan?? Do they have you drink less than a patient would normally drink since you are post op WLS?  Be SURE to do you best with your water intake afterwards!  Its the best way to wash the stuff outa your system!  The last thing you need is to have it turn to cement. I sure hope your pain resolves soon, and uneventfully!   Since you've had to lie around like a veal, maybe thats what's going on with your temporary weigh-loss slow down. (although I can't imagine how on the few calories you are consuming that the weight isn't falling off in a trail behind you!) A pox on the hematoma!!

Jean
