Grain free update
It feels like I haven't posted in forever...
Last weekend, Aaron and I went to Highland Park Illinois to see Rufus Wainwright... OMG we had 5th row seats, and his performance was incredible. It was the best weekend ever... I am totally in love with him...
In case anyone is interested in his music.. you can hear some of his songs on his myspace page -

Okay, back to the post at at hand... I have to be honest here, and say that I did not avoid grains last weekend, but I also did not go crazy on them...
So...... the official no grains program started yesterday. So far so good.. I have not had any grains, and I am increasing my veggie intake over the fruit intake.
I think focusing on things ONE DAY AT A TIME (sounds cheesy) is really the way to go. It makes me fell less overwealmed.. If I start to think about 4 weeks with no grains, it puts me in a totally different place.
So, I am basically on Phase 1, with the exception that I get 1 or 2 fruit servings a day.
Phase one can be really challenging, but I have adopted so many things about eating the SOUTH BEACH way, that it's not that hard, I am on autopilot really... However, if you do not stay prepared, like making lunches and dinners, you will almost always fail, so that is an important aspect of it.
I have not weighed myself for 2 weeks, but this Friday I will weigh in, and post, no matter what it says.
I also officially stopped taking Alli this week, in order to give the no grain and thyroid medication a fair try - and I cant help but wonder if the ALLI messes with your insulin... I need to look into that...
Anyways, I am doing well - looking forward to weighing on on Friday , and having ALLI withdrawl...(aka feeling slightly guilty about eating without taking it - but it dissipates as the days go bye)
