Good luck Christa! I've kinda started Phase 1 this week! It's been hard! I don't really know how to cook, so that is kind of holding me back a bit, but I made Bean and Beef Chili last night that was awesome!  Donna or Maria --- I like to eat Fiber One bars for breakfast because I'm usually running out the door, how would I know if they are ok for SB? Heather, the premise of south beach is whole foods.  I would not eat the fiber one bars because they contain too many carbs.  The sugars are also off the charts.  Fact is, most of those cereal bars are nothing more than candy bars in healthy packaging.  Try the South Beach bars, they are designed for the program and probably will be far better for you. Actually for breakfast it is far more advisable to eat dense protein like hard boiled eggs or a mozzarella cheese stick, something that sticks with you. In the end we have to find what works best for us.  For me these days that means very low carb, low fat and a focus on 1300-1500 calories a day.

Ok thanks! I think I'll just get some metamucil or something if I'm running low on my fiber :)

Those bars are definitely not South Beach.....Aside from looking at the nutritional info, you have to look at the ingredients..The things are loaded with sugar and high fructose corn syrup.. Also, the chocolate is not good either... In phase 2, you can have chocolate, but it has to be 70% coco, dark chocolate and only one serving. so sorry toots, these do not qualify. As far as breakfast goes, its all about protein.. I am always running around in the morning, so I will nuke 2 strips of turkey bacon, and grab a part skim cheeses stick, and I am out the door... Another good thing to do, would be to prepare turkey sausages ahead of time, and throw in 2 per a bag, and grab them when you run out the door, with a hard boiled egg. sugar is bad... Artificial sweeteners are worse..If you have to have sugar, get it from fruits.. Thats my 2 cents.. If you want, I will email you the stuff I emailed the other 2 girls, whi*****ludes a menu, a shopping list, a few recipes, and a list of approved foods for phase 1 and 2.
