Hi Maria,
My lowest weight was around 220, I hit 215 for about 5 seconds. I lost about 132 pound. I have been following the SB approach since July of 2005. I lost the 132 pounds in 12 months and I have basically been maintaining using the SB approach since then. I plan on eating like this the rest of my life because for me carbs are downright poison.
Wow.. thats crazy.... 2 years.. 132 pounds....
I hear ya on the carbs thing.. that is my downfall too, and all of this crap with my insulin, and the Doctor not wanting me to eat grain.. it all makes sense,,,
The best way to describe phase 1, if you do it correctly, is what I like to call the dee-poofing phase... I always loose 10 pounds on phase 1, in those first two weeks... It can be challenging at times, but like I said in my earlier post.. One Day at a time, and stay organized...that is the key...

My sisters who are of fairly average weight will go on SB to lose the 10 pounds that is always hounding them. They love it. Interestingly enough though, they can't seem to lose more on SB, no matter what they do.
I cannot for the life of me go back to Phase 1 though, far too difficult for me. I get nauesous at the thought of eating just protein and vegetables. So my Phase 1 consists of protein, vegetables and one meal, usually dinner, where I can have a sweet potato or whole grain pasta. That's my version of Phase 1. LOL Yup, always one day at a time.
