fat march
Hi Andy, I forbid my son from even turning this on. I told him in no uncertain terms I didn't even want to entertain it and to go into his room. I was kinda shocked at my vehemence but I looked at this like a parade of fat people who were being exploited in some ridiculous contest. I think it's deplorable. I felt the same way about The Biggest Loser but I know that has its merits.
Let me add I am NOT fond of reality shows of any sort; game shows, dating shows, etc. Just my 2 cents.

I just finished my lunch (steamed chicken & mixed vegetables with brown rice and low-sodium ginger sauce) and went to look up what fat march is. At first, I thought it sounded nice...people working together to walk to lose weight. but then i kept reading and am now repulsed and sad. I just don't get the appeal.
can it really be considered "healthy" to take SMO people off the couch and make them walk a couple of hundred miles and having them sleep in tents on the ground at night?
I know they started off slower - I think the first part of the march was like 5 miles... but according to the WWW last night they did 15 miles, in extreme heat, up hills!!! are they not just ASKING for someone to keel over dead? What doctor would say it is a good idea for a 400 lb man to walk 15 miles in hilly country in 100 degree weather??? not a cardiologist I'll bet! and if one of these poor fools actually listens to his body and stops the rest of the marchers are punished - they have to go back to where the smart one sat down and re do that part. really pathetic. At least on the biggest loser they get to sleep in beds and the others dont suffer consequences if someone has to bail
