Problem day
I'm supposed to leave for 4 days on the beach tonight.
When I woke up, by belly has decided to hurt worse than ever. Not inside my stomach, but in the muscle. Doc thinks the hematomas are growing instead of shrinking (because I didn't heal before moving, of course) and called in orders for a CT scan.
Radiologists needed a pre-cert. Had my Drs. asst. call it in, and they were to call me and tell me to come get the barium if that call came through. They didn't. When I called, they had no record of the exchange. Two hours later, my doc's office asked how it went-- I said "They haven't called yet." At this point it's 3pm-- too late to glug the barium if I wanted to-- cat scan closes at 4. So basically I am off for a 5 hour road trip with my ouchy belly. I am swearing not to move except walking and I am not lifting a damn thing until I return Wednesday and see my surgeon. Pooh! Ah well, just as well-- I would have had one intense weekend if I'd chugged the barium first, I'm sure. GAH! I'm wrapping myself in my binder and off to battle the south-bound traffic. Hope it stays quiet in my gut until I return! -S.
