Now that I have finished the annual requirements from my broker/dealer and the NASD I will comment. I agree that it is rude to walk into a room and expect it to be just as you imagine it should be. But here's my thing...  (look TOM FINALLY showed up, I am dying from cramps and I just took at 4 hour test on securities regulations....  I can have a 'thing') Here's my thing...  even if she felt we were rude initially, and I am sure she did... she was just as rude when she snubbed our subsequent attempts to clarify.  Additionally, more that one person replied with warm welcomes, hugs and fuzzies (you know what I mean) and she dissed them by leaving. Personally, I cant imagine that she really would have wanted to hear that she needed to work hard, eat less and get moving.  Unfortunatley many of us spend years hoping for a magic pill that will likley never come.  We avoid doctors and people outside our small spheres of influence because we dont want to admit that indeed WE have to lose weight for ourselves the old fashioned way.  There is no ice cream diet....

maybe she was just hoping for "hope".  I know what it feels like to feel so defeated that I meet every word of advice with an excuse for not getting up and getting busy. She's gotta find the "will" on her own.. there's no doubt, THEN come here to learn.  Shari was right on.. ..  ya gotta want it so badly that every brownie leaves a nasty taste in your mouth...feeling full feels disgusting.. well.. for me it's like that.. I guess everyone is different. Hey... . I hung around here for months before saying a word.... lol  I was so intimidated by everyone's progress!

Excellent points, LVS.  You gotta WANT it, and make a plan. THEN ask for support for whatever plan you choose. There's no magic potions and no one who can do it for you-- I think that's the point I was trying to make.

When I came here I just joined in the conversation.  I didn't come in and say "Hi, my name is.." and ask everyone what they're doing. I just sorda mingled and everyone got to know me.  I read, read and read then commented and shared what I was doing.. Others commented. critiqued and shared their plans.. I took it all in and applied bits and pieces of it to my own life. Some people pissed me off, some irritated me.. But I never lashed out at them.. instead I tried to understand what they were telling me and let it roll off if I didn't agree. Then again I'm a different type of person as well. The problem with us fat people is that we want everything instantly.  When you see a person coming in asking what they need to do to lose weight or asking what you do.. they're really asking "QUICK, I'M IN DIRE NEED OF HELP!! I HAVE TO GET THIS FAT OFF TOMORROW!! WHAT PILL CAN I TAKE TONIGHT TO MAKE ME BE 120LBS TOMORROW?"   They're not at the point where they are ready to make changes.. instead they are only "comtemplating" making changes. They're realizing that they have to do SOMETHING but they don't know what.  I know it's frustrating for us veterans to deal with people like that but nonetheless they're out there. It helps me to have compassion for them when I know what they're thinking.  It was actually Andrea that taught me this valuable lesson about the steps of change.. especially the contemplation step. So that just goes to show you that you don't learn just about what plans are good for weight loss but you learn life lessons here as well!

Post what you like, but if your initial salvo is gonna be "I need_______!" to a roomful of strangers who know nothing about you, you'd have to expect conversation to come to a screeching halt, right? Quid pro quo. You offer something of yourself, then receive the advice/concern/help/assistance of others. It's human nature. I'm not a social worker, Mary Magdalene or  an employee, just a reg'lar person. When I know something-- anything-- about you, I'm more likely to want to help, because I am more able to give you what it seems you're looking for.

She may not be posting, but I'll bet she's reading. Let's give her a chance.  She may respond in a few days.

maybe so.  I hope that if she is serious about losing weight (as virtually everyone who is here is) she will come back and be an active, contributing member. (for the record - that was NOT sarcasm.)

Everyone deserves a chance.. I'm greatful I got one here...  Everyone's "bottom" is different.. .. If she's at hers.. she'll come back    .   It does take a great deal of courage to post for the first time... exposing oneself, so to speak...  especially after years of being stared at, snickered at, put down, shoved aside, treated as persona non grata no matter where ya go.... takes guts.
