Let me explain

I can be a little terse, I know. I am a very direct writer, but actually a very playful and goofy person. People who spend five minutes in my presence figure that out fast. The reason I have been acting the fool today is simple: Webboards function in myriad ways-- as a compendium of information, but also as an established community. When you walk into an established community (your first day of school, a new job, a neighbor's home), it's customary and wise to hang back and get the lay of the land.  Every one of us has posted dozens of times what we are doing, how we are doing it, and why we've made our choices. Most of us have this information in our profiles, which are clickable, and it's all in recent posts besides. I think it's...well...bad form to walk into an existing conversation without taking a moment to listen, do a little homework, get to know the players. By saying "Hi guys-- whatcha doin'?", while you may just be naive or in a hurry, you also show that you didn't take the time to do that, and I think it's discourteous. I know that I spent many days reading this (and other) board(s) befoe posting, to get a sense of what the place was about and then decide if it was a place that might be of use to me. I, and almost everyone else, have blogged their personal experiences and their available at a mouse click-- experiences we already took the time to put down on the page, for just that purpose.  So being asked to repeat that information ad infinitum makes me nutty. Usually, I keep my mouth shut-- today I did not. Wasn't nice of me-- but I am human, and meet discourtesy with discourtesy when I am not in my best form. I'm having a very rough time myself, and don't have a lot in the way of patience today--- and I dare say, from what my friends on here have shared with me, I am not alone.

Hee, hee, hee.  Sorry that I’ve been MIA, but I’ve been a busy girl.  I’m going to be starting a home based handcrafted jewelry business and I’ve been really involved with initial start-up tasks.  Had to get a business license, a DBA certificate, researching how to go about choosing a credit card merchant provider so I can accept credit cards, and making lots and lots of jewelry all the while holding down a full-time job.  I still have lots to do before I have my first showing and all the time I use to spend on the boards is being spent with my new venture.

So, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.  We’re not going to discuss things like eating right and exercise or any other unpleasant topics – YOU GOT THAT!!!  How's everybody been?

I've made my own jewelry for years, Mama... but my acrylic nails slow me down. ;) Seriously-- Fimo, Sculpy, beading-- I'm on it. Send me a link or some pics-- I love to buy from private vendors-- I collect dichroic glass, but am open to anything funky and weird or 60s mod-- you know, Art Teacher and all like that! In any case, I was thinking about selling mine at work again-- over the years I've made/sold just about every handmade thing you can imagine!

As for how I've been? Hangin' from a thread, but still alive. You?

If you have a sam's club business account they offer credit card acceptance service for like a 1.9% fee or something. I was going to do this before I realized I had no need for it! lol

Welcome back!

I think I may be way too contemporary for your taste Shari.  I love creating with semi-precious gems, some glass beads and I adore svarovski (sp?) crystals.  One of the many things on my list of things to do is to have pictures taken of several of my pieces.  When I do, I'll be sure to send them to you. So, are you just about ready to go back to school?  Still a lot of pain?
