A Little Lost
I went to the doctor today and have officially lost 40 lbs according to their records. Whoo hoo! But, I'm really not happy about it -- please slap me b/c it is good and I should be happy. Anywho, the dr suggested I change up my diet to stop my plateaus... she suggested trying South Beach or even going to L.A. Weight Loss. I went to the L.A. weight loss center, just to see what they had to say -- kind of expensive, but sounds like they'd give me the kick in the ass I really need. South Beach looks better - only expense is food. Anybody have opinions on either one?
I know a couple of people who did the LA weightloss thing.... apparently it is just another version of Low Carb - AND you get to buy their overpriced bars with it.
meh...
A guy in my office did South Beach and really liked it. Only cost was the book - food you have to buy with either.... LA weightloss does not include food, just the bars (I think)
What I've eaten is here for the world to see
336.1 (8-1-07)/319.0 (12-28-07)/200 (goal for 12-31-08)/160 (goal)
Next mini goal is 290 by 1-31-08

40 pounds is no small feat!
In fact, 40 pounds of hamburger makes 160 quarter pounders with cheese! (And I will eat them all tonight in dreams...)

Hey Heather,
Congrats on the 40lb loss, that's an AMAZING accomplishment.
Snap out of it chicky, you're doing great!!!! Don't let this plateau you're on ruin things. You've gotten a plan together, so you'll be breaking down that plateau and back to losing quickly. Not gonna slap you cause I think you're being way too hard on yourself. Just remember it took time to put the pounds on and it's gonna take time to get it off.
A couple of people where I work went on the South Beach diet. I know they did really well, losing 40+ pounds to get to the goal weight they wanted. One friend went on it more as encouragement for her husband, than for herself. She really toned down and looked (still looks) great. It's a good program to work with.

hi Heather,
Since I can't afford a diet from a center I opted for South Beach. That is how i lost my 140 pounds. I basically did the low car/low fat approach. I still don't eat white bread, white pasta, etc. Simple carbs are completely out of my life. I don't find it expensive because I don't really do their recipes, just follow the concept. You can get the book for like $5.00 off of e-bay.
You have to buy food to eat, so the South Beach approach is no more expensive than any other. I don't buy their products, I don't like prepackaged stuff or stuff made with preservatives. So I opt for whole foods.
Good luck!
