Hey Everyone! I'm new to the board. I've got about 100 pounds to loose. I am not doing a surgery. I'm hoping to find some support to help get/keep me motivated. :)

Newbie? Oh crap--- I thought she said "Nudie." Motivation comes from within. Figure out what you want-- and when you want it badly enough, you'll crawl over glass to get it. (I have the scars to prove this)

Well okay then. Guess there's not much use to be here then.

I am curious why you think this. I suggested that you begin by making a small effort to eat less and move more.  (trust me, it works) and Shari said that the motivation must come from within (that is SO true).

We will be here when you want ideas, when you want to get suggestions....  when you are frustrated, happy, or estatic... but only YOU can do this for you.

It's a pretty no-nonsense crowd here-- I don't mean to be dismissive...but in the end, motivation is the one thing other people can't provide you. Someone to talk to? Yep, we got that. A place to post your trials and tribulations? That too. But the motivating part has to come intrinsically, if you know what I mean. You have to fire yourself up! And once you do, lots of people here have lots of ideas about what might help...and one or two of 'em might be on to something!

I find it motivates me to talk about what I'm going through. But if if I can't do that with anyone, I may as well do it on my own.

Shari, Nobody replies quite like you. People who have been reading your replies know that although you come off harsh sometimes,  your bark is worse than your bite.  Some newbies on the other hand just take them as sarcastic.  Either that or you were just saying things she didn't want hear.  Although motivation does come from within, sometimes different things around us can help us to achieve it.  I lurked around this board before I ever posted anything.  In small words... I got the jist of what you were about.  Although straight forward, your second reply was much better than the first.  My first day on this board my motivation wasn't so hot.  Since I have been using this board it has definitely increased.  I have no problem with your replies, but be gentle on the newbies for at least a week, after that fire away.  Brenda

I suggest you try attending meetings of Overeaters Anonymous.  That way, you'll get the support of a group, not be judged, and have a Higher Power help you with your overeating (or however you became 100 pounds overweight).  It helped me when nothing else could.  I'm a Weigh****chers dropout, and have been on 20+ diets throughout my life.  I just try to eat healthy, in moderation.  My doctor prescribed a 1600-calorie diabetic diet for me.  When I follow it, I do lose weight.  And I'm able to exercise, in moderation.  I'm losing weight slowly (17 pounds since February 2007), but healthily.  I hope this helps you.
