SELF CONTROL

Hello everyone, I have been doing pretty good on my eating and exercising.  The thing that I am most grateful for since I started my new journey is that feeling that I have control over what I eat.  There have been many times in the past that it seemed like I had an addiction to fast food.  I used to think to myself, you control what you put in your mouth, then by lunch I would be going to get some fast food.  I think I tried to just block it out of my mind rather than deal with it.  When I would think about how I gave into the cravings I would think that I was weak.  I never liked that feeling. I don't like to think that something has gotten the best of me, step up to the plate you wimp!  I am happy that  each week I am thinking less about fast food and not eating it is becoming more like second nature everyday.

I actually remember one time years ago when I went to the doctor for a check-up that I would ask her for a prescription for an appetite suppressant.  She said she didn't care for those pills that they were merely speed.  She told me to take fiber tablets instead.  I wasn't too satisfied with that answer.  I told her that dieting was hard for me.  She said, "well I think it's hard for everyone."  I told her it was especially hard for me.  She didn't say anything.  I guess I just wanted those pills.  I thought after I left, what kind of a spoiled comment was that, GEEZ! I'm actually starting to believe that with the help of this board I can succeed.  I will never be a skinny minny, and that's perfectly fine with me.  I  could never maintain such a weight.   Thanks for listening. Brenda

If you ever have trouble with self control in the future, you may want to consider Overeaters Anonymous.  You have the help of a support group, some tools to use to keep from bingeing, and a loving Higher Power to help you as well.  Works for me! Denise Phares/Kitties4

I can also suggest voodoo. I know that a few pin jabs a day has helped me maintain the zen-like calm that  so many here have come to relish.

I'm with you, Brenda! I feel completely the same way!!!!! I passed by a fast food place today at lunchtime and had a "twinge" of the past.  I wanted Taco Bell, but knew that I had given it up.   I felt such a feeling of success to drive right past it and not look back!  Came home and ate something healthy. Now I really feel good about myself! Bren
