Major issues....

Does anyone here NOT lose weight when reducing caloric intake and adding exercise?  It can't be only me... has anyone else gone through this?  How do you combat it?  Is there a way to fight it? I started off at 301.5 a couple of weeks ago.. now I'm 302.5.  Any loss lasted only a day or so.  it can't be fluid only if I'm taking lasix.  The only other thing I'm taking is insulin.  I stopped the pain medication 3 weeks ago because I retain fluid with it.   What else is there?  I'm drinking enough water.  I'm being sure to eat something first thing in the morning in an attempt to kick start my metabolism.  I'm moving MORE.. eating MUCH less and gaining weight....  Does anyone have any thoughts?  I'm so about to give up for good...

It CAN be fluid. It can also be scale error, time of day changes, a different place in your monthly cycle.  A one pound change in ay direction is seriously scientifically what they call "insignificant." Track everything so you know for certain you're doing what needs doing, then you have to let it go.

I'm with Shari - Exercize in the beginning causes water retention, pills or no pills.  Track you food on Fitday.com and watch your calorie count.  Is it that TOM? That could be a factor.  Hang in there - it'll come off eventually.

Hahha.. i don't drink beer and there's no Stoli's in the house!  I drink at least 3 bottles of Diet Green Tea and 3 bottles of water along with about 6 cups of coffee.  I also take a bottle of water and a bottle of Diet Green Tea to bed at night. Today I sure got more than enough calories for EVERYONE!  I'm just glad I didn't pig out on stuff like potatoes and such.. but there was definitely too many calories today.  I think I felt overwhelmed and just gave up after getting on the scale this morning.

try cutting back on the coffee a bit and increase the water ALOT. the more water you drink the less you retain

I'm with everyone else.  Track everything that goes into your mouth,  including water.  I started drinking diet ocean spray yesterday and I am peeing so much more. My son is walking 3 miles a day and couldn't understand why he wasn't losing and today he is tracking his points.  I told him he was eating more than he thought.

BTW - a decent kitchen scale and good measuring tools are priceless!!!  I think most folks have no idea what a teaspoon of butter looks like...  We MUST measure everything!!!

You can reduce calories/amount of food you eat all day long (I'm not saying its not part of the equation--its a small part).....but if it is the wrong kind of food you are eating it won't do you a dang bit of good.  I've done this myself...... Go for lean meats, dark veggies (steamed & fresh is best), low-fat content dairy and absolutely no soda (diet ok in moderation) or any drink with a caloric value at that.   Step away from the carbs or seriously limit them! Eat at least 3 small meals & 2 snacks a day -- no STARVATION!!!!
