Ok.. so I did it again
Don't worry about the amount of insulin you are using - you should try to get your BG under 140, but definitely under 160. Talk to a diabetes educator or CDE to help you adjust your insulin.
Increase the frequency of your glucose testing (I know, poor fingers!) and find out when you are going high. Check before meals and two hours after meals - write it down. This will give your CDE information on how you are reacting to your insulin. You will probably increase your lantus, possibly split it into two doses, and reduce the amount of short acting insulin. You will probably need to inject prior to meals as well, to keep you from going high. (Once you get high, you probably stay high)
If you get your BG under control, you will also get your hunger under control!
