Alrighty then!  I ate in the middle of the night AGAIN!  I wish I could stop being hungry at that time of day.  I went for protein, but still, the caloric intake was way too high. I did get on the scale this morning, although I was afaid and another 1/2 lb is off.. 297.5  I know.. it's not a lot, but it's a start. Today I did 25 minutes on the lifecyle at level 2, 60 rpm to some serious 70 and 80's rock and managed not only to burn the calories in my lunch, but got my blood sugar down to a 120!  YAY!  I also danced my butt off and tore up that kitchen floor for about 20 minutes.  My reward was that wonderful shower and a spritz of cinnebar <-- love that stuff. Minor setback, minor accomplishment...   Question:  If one takes Lasix already, is what we lose at the beginning still water weight?  I know it shouldn't matter, but I'd like to feel like I've accomplished something...   Be Blessed everyone! Started 308 Curren  297.5

I never did eat in the middle of the night and for that I'm grateful.  After about 8:30 P.M.  I'm pretty much home free, unless I've been starving myself and then it could be till about 12:00 A.M.,  if I'm up that late.  Are you going to bed too hungry or is this something you've always done?  For me the worst time is after supper till about 8:30 P.M.  All my life I loved to snack between these times and it is such an engraved habit it drives me nuts!!   Sounds like you've got a good exercise thing going.  Keep up the good work and it will pay off and you've got all of us behind you.  Have a good day and keep that dancing up.  Brenda

Don't kick yourself too hard......This is my opinion only......but I think the whole don't eat after 8:00 thing is bunk!!!!  You still burn calories at rest hence Resting Metabolic Rate......as long as you get your activities in during the day eat plenty of protein and good veggies (within caloric and nutritional guidelines) and take your vitamins you should see results regardless of what time of day you eat.

Sometimes I've had to fight off my night time cravings too. I usually make myself drink some water and force myself to stay out of the kitchen. I'm not sure about the Lasix since I don't take it... I wouldn't worry if it was water weight or not - I'd just count it as weight gone! Good luck!

I take a water pill daily, but I know I've los****er weight in the last 2 weeks...  it shows in my ankles.  What I dont know is how much of the weight was water and how much was fat!  LOL doesnt matter - less water means lower blood pressure and less stress on my heart.  I look great already - I'm doing this to be healthier... and less water is healthier!
What I've eaten is here for the world to see
336.1 (8-1-07)/319.0 (12-28-07)/200 (goal for 12-31-08)/160 (goal)
Next mini goal is 290 by 1-31-08

I wish I could go by my ankles but the only time they swell is with pain pills.  They are so darned skinny that they don't go with the rest of me and I'm shocked they still hold me up. That's just what I wanna know.. how much is fluid.. and how much is fat.  I really want to get into this.. want to get obsessed with it. Of course, I didn't get to be over 300 lbs without having an addictive personality.. the thing is.. it's a hate/hate relationship with food instead of a love.  I DESPISE that I get so hungry.  I hate myself for my stomache growling in the middle of the night.  I just wish I could numb it because when I'm sooooooo tired, I just want to shut it up and close my eyes.

You know, there are scales that show water weight vs. fat. I found that Bed, Bath, and Beyond has a great selection of bathroom scales. You might also check them out online, too.  I hear Tanita and Weigh****chers are the best. I don't retain much water, but I do notice that I weigh more in the summer (humidity) than in the winter months.  Weird, huh? Bren

I don't think that's weird.. I think it's cool you know your own body.  I'm so confused with mine that I dont' know whether to scratch my watch or wind my butt! I do think it's time for a new scale.  Mine is about..oooh.. mmm.. tee hee.. 20 years old.  I remember spending so much money on it.. back then it was about $80.  It's been to three houses! I would like to really see if this is fluid.  Ok..  when I first when to the diabetes doctor, he told me I had to lose weight.  So, for the next two weeks I dieted faithfully, swam every morning and night and pedaled my butt off before work only to lose 12 lbs and have him say at the next appointment "oh, that's nothing, it's jus****er weight".  Instead of encouraging me, he really discouraged me,.,. big time.  I went home and gave up.. never tried again.  That was May of 2006.  I just want to see how much of this is really just fluid considering I take 40 mg of Lasix a day.. how much can I really be holding onto? Thanks Bren..

Make sure to eat enough protein at dinner too - that may help with some of the food cravings.  Also, check your blood sugar.  You may be getting hungry because your glucose is high (the glucose isn't in the cells, instead it's floating around outside because insulin isn't there to open the door to the cell) If you see your glucose is high and you are hungry consistently, you should talk to your doctor about adjusting your meds. About the weight loss/water weight, etc. When your body composition has a high percentage of fat, you will hold more water between the cells.  There is an initial off-loading of tha****er with weight loss - which can be ridiculously encouraging.  I say, take credit for every ounce!  Who cares if it was water!  Weigh yourself every day at the same time, you may see a 1-3 lb. variance if you are having fluid shifts.  As you said , you are taking lasix each day - that should keep some of the normal fluid shifts under control. Don't worry about the composition of your weight loss - enjoy the good feeling you get when the number gets lower!

Thank you for the good information.  I was really hungry about 3 hours after dinner, so I did up a whole egg with an egg white.  It was enough to really shut my stomache up for the evening so I'm quite comfortable now.  We'll see what happens in a few hours.   I know it's not ME being hungry... I know it's the cells starving, but I just don't know how to shut my stomache up.  I'm on 50 units of lantus each night and 20 novolog at meals and the doc tells me that this is too much, yet right now my bs is 180.  I dunno anything anymore.. I'm just hoping to dump enough of weight to lower the blood sugar and NOT be hungry.  Either that or I can learn to exercise all night!  lol   thanks! L
