Frustration vs. Determination

I made a post last week about these chips calling my name all week.  I was determined when I went to the grocery store on Saturday morning that I was not buying anymore.  For some reason, my husband decides while going down the aisles that he wants some chips to snack on later.  I asked him why he wanted them since he knows they are one of my weaknesses.  I told him usually all you care about is sweets.  He said he would make sure they weren't in the house for very long.  I wasn't going to argue with him in the store.  I asked him if he was trying to sabotage my diet or what.  His response, no honey, no honey.  Basically he just wants what he wants.  Later that night what does he eat....OREO COOKIES!!!  I asked him what about the chips.  His response was,"I'll eat them, I'll eat them."  Well Sunday night rolls around and he is about to leave for work.  I told him to take those damn chips with him!  GO BRENDA!! GO BRENDA!! GO BRENDA!! I realize he should not have to suffer because of me, BUT GEEZ!!

Well, looks like we Brenda's have something in common. My husband does the exact same thing to me.  I'm an ice cream addict, and he would always buy some and say, "It's for me," but would never eat it.  One day I sat him down and while I was sobbing, I begged him to stop.  It finally worked. So, you might try crying and begging if that's what it takes. Men! Bren  (I'll be Bren, so people can tell us apart, okay?)

I'm an oreo freak myself..  my husband is a BIG time sweets freak.  He has a special file cabinet!  I don't allow the cookies and crap in the pantry so what he stashes in his area he stashes.  I don't buy it, I don't clean it, I won't look at it.

Note:  He is also wanting to lose about 20 lbs so it's a constant battle in the house.  I prepare his lunch and freeze so all he has to do is take it out and put it in his cooler.  Every so often I throw a monkey wrench into his plans by opening his cooler.  Then I replace the chips with a fruit.   He laughs (oh I got caught).  Uh huh..  the cookies come out, celery w/cream cheese goes in!

i think when you're trying so hard to do this.. it's imperative that everyone in the house supports you 100% and makes small changes in their own habits to help contribute to your success.  "HONEY, if you want it.. STA****".  Even the "can't say no" woman is forcing some changes to this household!

You've got some good ideas.  I am grateful that sweets don't bother me as much as other foods.  When it's hot like it has been lately, I do like to get an ice cream.  He has offered to go walking with me lately, but it's has been extremely hot and humid here.  No thanks, my stationary bike in my cool basement is just fine.  When it gets cooler I might take him up on it.   Brenda

You know what's weird about this weather.  I'm actually enjoying it. I got out and washed my Harley the other day and I was sweatin' like a ***** in church on sunday!  (lol always love that saying!)  The sweat felt "good" and "clean"... Have you ever experienced that before?  It envigorated me, I seemed to wash faster and harder as if to sweat more.  The same thing has been happening on my walks to and from work as well.  It's weird as hell cuz I hate sweating! lol

I'm not going to lie to you, I'm spoiled.   When it gets really hot, to me it's just like winter.  I'd rather exercise indoors and sweat a little than outside and sweat a lot.  My husband would rather do just the opposite, which I'm sure is smart if your trying to lose weight.  I can take a hot day way more than hot and humid day.  Humidty here at times is ferocious and when you get accustomed to a/c it makes it even worse.  Maybe one of these days I'll stop being so pampered and maybe someday I'll win the lottery.   I actually did walk yesterday in the park for ten minutes at lunch and that was enough.  Todays temp is supposed to be 105 with the humidity between 110-115.  I also rode my stationary bike ten minutes before work and fifteen minutes after work.  Total for the day 35 minutes.  I know it could be longer and it's probably better if I don't space it out like that.  As long as it doesn't get passed about 92 degress I do walk in the park for 15 minutes.  That's all I have time to do at lunch.   Brenda

I think you're doing plenty of exercise! It also doesn't matter if you do it all in one session or spaced out over the day.  I walk for 20 minutes everyday because I'm forced to.  I choose to walk an additional 5-10 minutes on occasion when I go get lunch. I walk instead of riding with the other guys here at work.  Working uptown has really increased my walking.   I lost my pedometer.. wish I could find that thing.. I'm curious to see how much I'm walking.. Anyways... The humidity is terrible.  I don't blame you for not walking in that crap. It doesn't produce a good sweat, it produces an icky muggy sticky slimey oily sweat and I don't want any bit of it!
