Why I posted my pics...

In about three weeks, I will be back in the public eye...and I mean REALLY public-- I see about 400 people a day-- who all know me by name.  I am not sure how I will receive their comments and well-wishes. A simple "Thank you" is probably safest but some people won't let it drop there, and it's really not something I care to discuss with casual acquaintences, support boards notwithstanding. The thing is, I feel bad. Not well, not healthy, just bad. Some of it's chemical, I know, but I am talking about the physical pain. I desperately wanted to do more, accomplish more, have more energy, work harder. I am a month out now, but I am finding I am back where I was in January, and it hurts my heart. I work out, but gingerly. I can't use weights. The bathroom problems are excrutiating.  The time of month pain was as horrible as ever.  I know it's only been a month, but most people-- even people who ignore their doctor, eat corndogs, and lie around all day-- feel well by now. I've lost far less weight than the average post-RNYer, so that's not so cheery either. It's kind of a bum time for me as I hurt and wait to see when the hurt will stop. So the whole "Yay, you" thing feels empty and sad right now. I know it'll get better-- I'm just all outta sorts. I lost a pound this past two weeks. It was sweat expended, no doubt ,trying to go to the bathroom. End pity party. Onward!

I know it is hard. JUst pick 3 days a week to work out. Don.t let anyone or any thing keep you from working out. I work out in pain . The fear of giving in to pain is to easy.  If I am in to much pain I adjust my work out. I have had 12 surgeries since 1997. None of them were wls surgery. Just problems caused by being fat. I have 4 children  26yearsold, 10, 9.and 7.  I work out at 11pm  at night and get up at 630am.  I just say to my self I can't go back to 235. So I say to you look  forword.

My good friend D was 50 when she had her surgery, the same day as our 35 year old male boss.  HE lost 100# in like 4 months...but stopped pretty much after that.  D lost almost NOTHING for like 3 months...it was weird. It was perhaps 10 pounds.  talk about depressed - she was too.   I was thinking,. how do you take those pics of yourself?

Oh, Shari, that's so sad. I've done a lot of homework on RNY, and I'm sure you did too, so you know that your hormones go wild after surgery and things don't go as smooth as you'd like them to at first.   Hang in there.  Give it another month or two.  You'll be as good as (or better than) new! I'll say a little prayer for you tonight. Bren

Thanks. Right now it's not hormones, it's physical pain. Hormones I can float on top of.  Things will get better.

wow...i am sorry you are just not your ole self. Maybe getting back to work will help you, stupid questions and all.  It has only been a month and hopefully this is the worst of it. All sig ot's issues, not having energy, being in pain, it does feel overwhelming, I'll bet. I do hate to hear it.

Nah, the Sig's been stellar.  I just wanna be better, now...or even thinner now. Something other than holding onto my backside, actually, would be sweet.

I know what you mean about people's comments!  I've lost a significant amout of poundage a few times.  I would always get freaked out and embarrassed and not know what to say when people noticed - whether they went overboard or not!  I know this is easier siad than done, but remember that this is for you, and since you can't control people's reactions, just ignore any extra "word salad"! I'm sure you already know that everyone's post-op experience is different.  The bottom line is that you've managed to loose over 80 lbs (most of it on your own!), and once your body settles down you'll get back your mojo - and back on track! I just hope you are feeling better pain-wise soon!  Being in pain really effect your morale. ps - my ass is still killing me from falling down the steps!!  I seriously think I broke my tailbone - gonna go to the doctor if its not better by thurs or fri!  my kids think its funny..... good thing those little freaks are so cute!!
