UPDATE - I'D LIKE YOUR OPINION

This is for those of you that read my post regarding the overweight boy that said he would like to  commit suicide.  My husband spoke his cousin's father about this issue.  He already knew that his grandson had made such a statement in the past.  His son had spoken to him about it.  They took him to a doctor due to his depression.  Whether or not he is in therapy I don't know.  He said he was going to place another call to his son and let him know that during our visit he had made another such statement. I may be seeing them again the first week in October for a family reunion.  I or my husband will try and speak with the father at this time to see how he's doing.  I pray they make some changes in his life. Well, good. I am with some of the others...good chance this is depression and he is reaching out, not likely to really do anything like suicide, but one never knows.  Not many teen suicides in my life, but the ones i have known of...no one, not even the parents were ready for THAT.   The few i am personally aware of were very high powered kids...highly athletic, over-acheivers, blew the parents/teachers away when it happened.  This boy will either stop announcing this and receive the help he needs, or the worst possible outcome may happen.  Either way, at least the parents will know they had a chance and tried to help him!  Good for you to be so brave.
