I was just going to ask... why not start Saturday afternoon???
welcome to the NS board. Shari will be along soon to tell you all the benefits of weight loss prior to surgery so I wont steal her thunder...LOL
Please try to think of it as losing weight so that you can have a safer more sucessful surgery rather than a have to.
Even if you arent changing your eating habits yet, stat journaling what you eat NOW. go get set up on fitday or thedailyplate or sparkpeople - whatever floats yer boat!
Happy eating and Happier Losing!
What I've eaten is here for the world to see
336.1 (8-1-07)/319.0 (12-28-07)/200 (goal for 12-31-08)/160 (goal)
Next mini goal is 290 by 1-31-08
336.1 (8-1-07)/319.0 (12-28-07)/200 (goal for 12-31-08)/160 (goal)

If I was actually *feeling* those benefits at the moment, it'd be a lot more inspiring!
Um...anyway---(AHEM) pre-op losses help both you and your surgeon in myriad ways. Fast losses promote liver shrinkage, which will make your stomach easier to access and liver easier to manipulate, minimizing the change of operative injuries, mistakes, and near-misses. In many cases, pre-op weight loss can mean the difference between an open and a laparoscopic surgery, so you might save yourself huge amounts of recovery time. Additionally, pre-op dietary consistency is a good indicator of post op outcomes, since all of the common WLSs requiire a specific eating plan post-surgically. The sooner you start, teh easier you make things on yourself.
Or, you know, go get a burger and some onion rings, and pay the consequences.

Hi Breanna girl! Hey, I'm hanging out here too, and the VSG board of course! I need to lose also if I decide to go through with the surg, so we are all in this together! You will get good info here. Check out "Andy's" profile, and Donnamarie's also, good inspiration. Oh, and Shari last bunches before her bypass.
I would like to give you some advice. Monday never really comes. You need to start at that moment . I did the same thing ,I will start on Monday. I am 48years old 2 years ago at 235lbs I said no more. I signed up at a gym started saying no to stack foods and now I am down to 140lbs. . I know now I need to ask myself am I really hungery or upset or stressed out. It is a lfe long change. Even getting WLS if you can't hundle food WLS won't work. A friend at work got a gatric by-pass and she only lossed 86lbs and that was 3 years ago. So really look into yourself , for the strengh no surgery will keep the weight off.
