That's a terrific start, Kris! I had trouble keeping sodium down too--- especially hard if you eat prepared foods (frozen or canned.) Luckily, I have always had good blood pressure so I don't sweat sodium much-- in fact, I had 120/80 BP my whole life-- but post op, it's now always 100/60. My intake today: B: 1/4 c. pureed ground turkey meat w/ taco seasoning/lowfat cheese/nonfat sour cream S: 8 oz protein shake L: 1/4 c. pureed ham salad S: 8 oz protein shake D: 1/4 c. pureed Lean Cuisine™ Chicken in Peanut Sauce WOOT! I think most of my sodium is coming from the meats I'm eating. I'm still hooked on meat and it makes up majority of my meals. Last night I chose the smallest pork chop and grabbed about 2 cups of green and wax bean medley (love that word) and about 1/2 cup of instant potatoes. Still I ate the greens first and left the juicy pork chop for last! But at least my greens were bigger than my meat. (that sounds a lil weird....) I've always had good BP up until I hit 330lbs and started using phentermine. Not sure if it was the weight or the phentermine that did it. Nonetheless, since I've lost weight I'm lingering around 135/88 which is a BIG improvement. I'm also not taking the meds anymore so that's even more amazing. Before the weight loss I believe I was at like 190/99 or so. Freaked my doctor out since I had never had any issues before. He put me on lisinopril which took it down to about 150/94 on average. I never changed my sodium intake so I suppose I don't put much stock in the sodium = elevated BP thing.
