I have also been lurking around the  non surgical site.   My name is also Brenda.  Occassionally, I look at the lap band posts too since there are not as many people posting on the non surgical side.  I am not considering any form of WLS at this time.  I am terrified of RNY and not too sure about lap band either.  So many people have problems with these procedures.  I don't have the courage to go this route at this time.  I do not see these procedures as an easy way out.   I have been obese for a million years.  I am slowly trying to make changes in my eating habits and incorporate exercise.  I'm trying to watch my carbs and my fats.  Eating out at fast food places has always been my worst problem.  I gave up soda about a year ago.  I can take or leave sweets.  I've been on a million diets like most of you.  Lost a lot of weight a few times only to gain back more, sound familiar?   I am looking for friends for motivation and knowledge.  I am 44 and cannot handle the weight as well as when I was younger.  I don't want all of the medical issues that will come in time if I don't do something about  my problem. You guys seem like a nice group of people.  Hope to hear from you.  Thanks.

Hi Brenda, welcome to the forum.  I've found this is a great group of people.   You've made a great decision to get a handle on your weight now before medical issues crop up.  Most of us are working at losing weight without WLS, though a couple have had it, and others (like me) are looking into it.  No matter what, we're hear to get our weights in check and you're sure to find lots of support in this little group. All the best, Melinda

I would suggest trying Overeaters Anonymous.  It's a spiritually-based program which helps alot of people get their eating under control by working a 12-step program.  It's helped me alot, and I'm still making changes to my food plan (diet is a bad word for me - too restrictive).

Welcome to the board!   This one has gotten pretty busy in the past.  The last couple of weeks or so have been kinda slow.. Or at least I haven't been here to notice..  It's a great group and I think you'll find the folks here typically have their heads together and know their stuff!  Not to say other boards don't but then they're geared towards surgery, of which you've declined.  Again, welcome and join the conversations!

Hi Brenda III.... fast food should be the easiest thing to break yourself of...seems easy to wean off slow like. Not go in for one day...or two days..or one week, etc.  If you've lurked, then you know what I will say:  pack a cooler, bring bulk foods to work, whatever, but have YOUR food with you so you are not stuck eating this crap. If you still do decide to eat the crap, well, that will require another step, but pretty much people eat this other food becuase they have nothing else to eat.  It is hard, perhaps impossible to choose THAT wisely eating out so that you will lose weight. It should be a special occasion thang! Anyway...i am raggy today, eh?  Welcome!  Jump in anywhere.....

Hi, Brenda (copy cat!)  Glad you're here at this time with me.  We can begin our "new life" together! Just take it day to day and pray that you continue to eat healthier, and exercise! We can do it!! Brenda (Should I get another name?)
