FitDay.com Not sure I'm impressed

Hi all - give www.thedailyplate.com a try.  I used fitday for AGES and I really like the daily plate better for ease of entering the food.  It doesnt give as many customized reports... but I like that almost anything I eat is in there....

Actually, I know I said I didn't like the complexity of this site. I started playing with it a little more. It is quite a bit easier to use.     I think I'll try both of them out for a while and see which one wins. ;)

I'm not wishy-washy, I swear! ;D

stop whining!  You're just po'd that you have to do this in the first place! Try the sister site, dietfacts.com and drop a multitude of store bought and restaurant items into fitday.  fitday must be open to drop the data in there. When you can't find something. just go close... Look in the poultry catagory for chicken.

It gets intuitive the more you use it!

god you are a whiner

Oh yeah! THat's the site! I was looking for that one. Couldn't remember what it was!  It's already getting a little easier.  I started playing with the thedailyplate.com as well but that one seems to have too much information on the screen. I like the simplicity of fitday. I'm only interested in keeping up with calories and fat, maybe sodium, but the rest I couldn't give a crap less about.  You know my wife tells me I complain all the time too.  To be honest, I'm sick of complaining too! lol Perhaps that boot camp I was talking about can help me with that too.  So difficult to see the good in things when you've been negative all your life ya know?  Whine whine whine! :D

I've poked around on FitDay here and there but am more of a journal fan myself. I like that I can carry that with me wherever I go, if needed.

I carry a little notebook - because I only have internet here at the office....

but then I enter everything I eat into the PC so I can get the numbers on sodium and stuff...

BTW - am I the only one who uses the online journal to pre-plan meals??  Like last night, I knew my mom was serving Pizza for my son's Bday dinner...  so first thing, before I ate breakfast I put in the pizza and cake.  then I planned the rest of my day's eating around that. I'm just wondering if everyone uses it to keep track of what has already happened or if any of you use it to preplan and avoid disaster

I used to do that all the time! For instance, if I was going to Saladworks, I'd check their website, put it all in FitDay, then see what my best options were. I'd add and subtract things to get the best fat/carb/protein balance too. Then I would go and enjoy without fear I was damaging myself. Same with BBQs or parties. I used to plan my meals the night before, then subtract anything I didn't eat. Made life easy. It does take a commitment, though. I used to spend at least a half hour a day recording activity and meals, but seeing it a concrete way helped me to understand things better. Over time, it all would have become more intuitive: my BF can intuitively measure a quarter, half or full cup every time and he's always dead on. I like the planning. Blame my Germanic ancestry.

JMHO, but I prefer keeping track of calories on exercise on sparkpeople.com  Their pull-down menus offer fast-food and it's easier for me. I didn't like FitDay. Spark also has customizable menus as well.
