Total Accountability
Okay, the scale had a very unreasonable number on it this morning. I don't care that it is TOM, I don't care that the humidity level is at 98%, I don't care tha****er fluctuations are common. I just don't CARE anymore.
I had to look back, honestly look back, and see what I have been doing. I think what's frustrating me the most is that I am not binging on McDonalds or plates of pie and icecream, but I am grazing. I tried to convince myself that if I upped my exercise surely I needed more food? LOL In either case, I have thought a lot about my views of food and while right now most of it is lip service, I have a whole lot of hope that I will be able to implement some of the things I have thought about, such as being less critical of myself where food is concerned. That being said, I'm not throwing in the towel and accepting that darn number!!! I decided today to committ to Phase 1 of South Beach again. This means I won't be having my oatmeal w/flax seed in the morning but I will eat my hard boiled eggs, one with the yolk, one without. I am doing full protein for lunch and same for dinner. I am cutting out all grains, even the whole grains, so no carbs. I have to at least take off 10 of these pounds before I can breathe again and go back to what I have been doing, MINUS the grazing. Damn grazing. I still think the most frustrating part is that we don't have to consume 3500 calories to gain a pound when we have trained our bodies for so long to accept fewer calories. Frustrates the bejesus out of me. Thanks for listening to my rant, and allowing me to be honest to myself first off, and to others. I never want to sit here and say "oh I'm doing wonderfully" and not lose a pound and have others do what I state I am doing, only to find out it wasn't the truth.

You know, you said it best. We can't take a break, period. There is no period of time where we can throw in the towel and just no****ch what we are doing. I have realized that and it's only when I look back HONESTLY and see, like you said, the extra peanut butter, the extra serving, the not weighing or measuring my food, that I have to accept responsibility. Hey, we didn't kill ourselves in the process, that's definitely a big deal, right???
I hadn't heard of Seattle Sutton before you mentioned it on here. I am kinda surprised that it's high in carbs. Most programs these days are based on the glycemic index and keep the carbs out of it. I love the South Beach approach for a number of reasons. One is because I am very sensitive to carbs, extremely sensitive, and I can pretty much eliminate them without issue! I never did quite get to Phase 3, probably because I never reached my "goal", but I did incorporate whole grains back into my diet. I pretty much stick to whole wheat pasta, sweet potatoes and whole wheat bread and wraps. That's about it and I average perhaps, in a week of 21 meals, about 10 of them will have those types of whole grains or "good" carbs. I've had a great day and right now it's 7:20 and I am feeling pretty hungry. I am going to brush my teeth and hope it passes!!! I ate dinner, chicken breast and asparagus, around 6. I think it's more mouth hunger than stomach hunger at this point so the brushing might help. Then probably to bed early to forget about the hunger! I'll be fine in a couple of days when I "detox".
We should definitely share South Beach tips and recipes!!!! Good luck with Phase 1
