My second fill
I'll go you one better! Heres a hug for you (hug icon of your choice) and now--- since I hate hearing about ANYONE trapped, even me, I am putting on my sneakers and GOING FOR A WALK! Now mind you, the Dr. and PT told me to cool my jets and lie low until Friday, but
I AM GOING ON A WAL K-A-THON FOR JANINA! In fact, I am gonna go do it now, in broad daylight, in a goddamn tank top so the world has to contend with every one of my flappy arm movements! Yeah! With my MP3 player blastin'! "Hello, hello--- we're in a place called Vertigo...." Yep! Here I go! No pain meds! Gonna do it for the Neener! ::::PS It might not be a bad idea to get the paramedics on speed dial, but damn, I gotta point to prove here!:::::

Hey Janina Girl -- Wow -- okay, I'm a little late gettting to the party. I was lurking over on the main board and missing your melt down over here. Seems like everything has been said already but has that ever stopped me? I feel your frustration and know I would feel exactly the same way if I was in your shoes. Hopefully another fill will do the trick. But, from what I understand, no matter what kind of WLS a person's has, at some point you have to be willing to do the work (exercising and changing eating habits). With RNY and other forms of gastric bypass you don't really have to work at first. You loose weight with almost no effort because of the surgery and the diet restrictions. Therefore most people loose 100+ pounds right away. But, after that 6 months to a year of rapid weight loss the gastric bypass patient has to start doing the work or she/he can regain some, most or all of the weight.
With the Band it looks likes there is no honeymoon period for a lot of people. You have to start working with your tool from the beginning and I think that's what you're having such a problem with. You're thinking that if you went through all the trouble and pain of having the surgery that you should be rewarded with a significant amount of effortless weight loss before you have to really go to work. But, it appears like that's not going to happen so you're going to have to regroup, change your game plan and resign yourself to the fact that you have to go it alone -- at least for now. The next fill just may do the trick. But, in the meantime, you've got to start working out. At your age, working out is going to increase your metabolism tremendously and the weight will start coming off so much easier. I can understand your concerns about the gym and you have already gotten some good suggestions. The MP3 player suggestion is a good one. You can just get into a zone with your music and you'll be in your own little world. The walking idea is good too, and so are workout videos at home. It really doesn't matter what you do, you just have to get moving. Start small and work your way up. Don't wait for motivation to hit you, cuz it probably never will. JUST DO IT!!!
