Tali's Journey - Week 5
I’ve decided to do this journaling thing just once a week instead of everyday. I’ll probably do it every Sunday. Last week was a very good week in many respects. I was on track with everything. I worked out Monday through Saturday and ate nothing but my planned meals (except for yesterday, of course). Also last week, I started taking Alli. When I first heard about Alli I had no desire to try it because I heard about the unpleasant side effects. But, when some of the other Non-Op members starting taking it and reporting back, we heard of no negative side effects because they were taking it while not eating too much fat. So, since my fat consumption is limited by my healthy Seattle Sutton meals I decided to try it too. I’m happy to report that I have had no Treatment Effects (“TEs”) to speak of. So, it appears that if you keep within the limits of the recommended amounts of fat while taking Alli, you’ll be okay. I feel that if Alli will help me lose a couple of extra pounds a month than I would on my own, I will use it for that and as a tool to help me stay on track. It’s recommended that you only take Alli for 6-months so that’s how long I’ll take it. Last week was also a good week on the Non-OP forum. We got some really good conversations going and I think that we all got to know each other a little better and I think that’s great. Losing a lot of weight is a very difficult thing to do, but when you have a support system that consists of people who are going through the same struggles that you are it makes it so much easier. It felt kind of weird not weighing myself yesterday but it also felt kind of liberating not to have to step on the scale and hold my breath in anticipation. So, I’m happy I made the decision to only way on the 1st day of each month. So, including today, I have 17 more days before I step on the scale again. I had mentioned that I was having trouble with my “free-for-all” Saturday spilling over into Sunday. I decided that I was going to try to remedy the problem by getting rid of any left over junk food either Saturday night or first thing Sunday morning. I didn’t feel like it last night so I gathered everything up first thing this morning and took it to the big cans in the alley and threw it out. Yesterday’s “free-for-all” was not like any other I’ve ever had. I bought a lot of junk food, but I tried to be mindful of the fact that there’s only so much that I can eat in one day so I didn’t buy as much as I usually do. What surprised me was that I didn’t eat hardly any of it. Not only did I not finish anything but I didn’t even put a good dent into anything. I had a little of everything and that was more than enough. I also ordered a pizza last night. I always order a medium pizza and that was a mistake because most of it was thrown out this morning with everything else. So that next time I order a pizza it will be a small one. Okay, I’m not saying that every Saturday from here on out will be like yesterday. Next Saturday I may find myself eating everything I buy but who knows, time will tell. Another thing I was having trouble with was working out on Saturdays. Because I don’t have to go to work on Saturdays I was getting up and running errands and doing other things before I did my workout. So, what ended up happening on most Saturdays would be that I would put off working out thinking that I would do it later, but quite often later would never come. So, to remedy that problem I’ve decided to treat Saturday’s workout just like any other day – do it first thing in the morning before I do anything else. Problem solved. So, I guess that’s it. I’m hoping that this week will be as good as last week.
