What ONE thing are you Struggling With?

Hi Tali - Great post. I would say my biggest problem right now is in attitude. I still have days when I really struggle with wanting the weight to come off RIGHT NOW, as I've posted about a bit before. I KNOW I can't drop 10 pounds in a week, yet I still get frustrated when I think about what's normal. I want so badly to start enjoying some of the stuff that comes with being smaller.  I don't know that I have an exact strategy for fixing it, except to talk it out and just suck it up and DEAL! I'm working on it.

You're right Sonora, there's no strategy for that.  All any of us can do is try to keep those crazy thoughts out of our heads as much as possible.  You know what I mean about crazy thoughts right? Like -- I had a piece of cake so what the hell, might as well eat the whole thing cuz I blew it, or I had a slice of pizza at the office party so I better make up for it by doing two hours of cardio tonight, or I've been doing everything right and staying on track but I gained 2/10ths of a pound so this diet must not be working.  Yeah, those kind of thoughts.

Well let's see. Lately I have been having trouble with exercise. I used to be obsessed at the beginning of my journey..i would hit the gym 6 times a week for an hour or hour and a half and I would walk a mile on the day I didn't go. Now...I don't do either.  For some reason I just can not bring myself to do it, I'd much rather sleep. Sleep to me is just like food an addiction.  Odd I know, but like last night I wanted to get so much accomplished. I wanted to go tanning, go for a walk, help my brother with his mapping for work, do a load of laundry, and possibly retouch up my color in my hair oh plus I was supposed to call Chris. So I decided I would take an hour long nap 6:30 to 7:30...I ended up waking up at midnight! Which I do this all the time, so I just go back to sleep and wake up in the morning. Basically I wasted the WHOLE day.  So I decided i need to just go to be earlier, maybe that would help with the sleepiness. But I still can't bring myself to exercise I want to, I really do but while I am sitting on the couch watching a show at 7pm or so I'm like oh I need to go for a walk to exercise I just go eh....and I don't go. I'm being lazy! I need to quit!  Also, like Tali I have a free day Saturday. I can eat whatever floats my boat. But now I think I have solved that problem a bit. If I take my Alli pill before I eat which I do...I will stop myself from eating something REALLY bad because I will be too scared of teh outcome lol. But if I don't take the pill I will go for it and eat whatever so I guess if i force myself to take the pill I will stop myself! That problem solved. But so far on this Alli no TE's and I haven't exercised so I am not sure what the outcome of this Saturday's WI will be.

Hey Christa girl, You burned  yourself out on the exercise when you first started.  I've done that several times in the past -- did way too much way too soon.  This time I really took it easy on myself and it's working out well.  When you decide what exercise you're going to do and you motivate yourself to begin again, take it easy, don't act like you're training for the Olympics okay? About the naps, I too take very long naps.  So long that when I take a nap now I set my alarm clock because there have been many times when I layed down for a "nap" mid afternoon and woke up with the sun no longer shining. Great strategy about taking the Alli on Saturdays to keep you from doing too much damage.  Me on the other hand, I'm not going near a Alli capsule tomorrow.

I usually set my alarm clock and most of the time I sleep right thru it! I don't do that in the mornings because I know i am triggered of HAVING to get up and go to work. Thank you for the suggestions. :) And yea I'm still debating on the Alli tomorrow or not...lol Because I have been SO good the past 4 days no fast food or take out or anything so we'll see what I decide!

Oh I'm a good napper too.  My DB can have a catnap and it lasts a 1/2 hour, but not me.  My minimum naps are 2 hours, but normally go to 3.  It gets frustrating thinking I've lost all those hours.  In the same token I figure my body was tired and needed to rest.

I'm stressed right now, so I notice I have had a couple of "incidentals"... Two days, I've had a tube of trail mix. I knew I shouldn't have at it, but after I did, I felt better.  Didn't have guilt about it. I was nervous and had some anxiety while I was eating it.  I did exercise as usual.  I also had some bread with my baked eggplant. Err.. last night I splurged on protein, and I am contemplating a trip to the grocery store for some low-cal favorites. I would prolly eat them throughout the weekend and feel awful Monday.. I can't wait till this "small stuff" is over with. I talked to the therapist yesterday, and told him I am feeling kinda burned out. Ugh.. stress is a b....

My struggle sounds so silly to me when I put it down in writing, but my current struggle is staying away from eating out and making the right choices eating out. I grew up eating out because my mom was a nurse who worked shift work and a lot of OT and this is how we ate because she was usually too tired to cook & I guess I've carried out this attitude into my own life. I thought I had it under control for the past two months, but the past 2-3 weeks, it's reared its ugly head again. We've been busy with summer school, kids' sports schedules, my Bazi product tastings, and bbqs.  I did go to the grocery store with a planned list for the next 10 days until my hubby leaves for school, but yesterday, we got lost in downtown Honolulu trying to find the library (which caused me to almost have a panic attack) and my kids had drs appointments at 1 so we ate out at Subway. I did good for the most part, but I ate mayo on my sandwich and I really wanted a peanut butter cookie, so I had one. Then, I felt really guilty when I got home and looked up the calories for it.... I know part of my cravings this week is PMS and I'm trying not to be too hard on myself.

I totally forgot to look for the Biggest Loser cookbook yesterday when I was at the library, so maybe I'll see if the other library has it so I don't get lost.  Ugh! Thanks for reading this far, I think it helped just to "vent".

Doesn't sound silly to me Heather.  The only thing I can suggest is if you're going to eat out, figure out what you're going to have before you even enter the establishment and stick to it.  A lot of the restaurants and franchies now have on-line menus to help you figure out what may want to order.

I am struggling with exercising.  I'm just not doing it.  Have no drive to do it.  I know I should be and I know all the benefits of exercising.  I know the small things I could be doing, all the tricks to get in more movement, but I'm just not doing them.  I really just want my weight to fall off my body.  So far, it's working, but I could be losing 3lb's a week instead of 2lb's a week if I moved my fat ass.  I'm just lazy - plain and simple.
