Hard Upper Belly?

I hadn't experienced this in a long time, but it happened again today with the burger--- I get a very full feeling, and then my upper belly (I'm one of those fat women with upper and lower bellyfat) gets really rigid and hard-- and stays that way. Been like this since 4pm, and it's 10:30 now. I know I have gallstones-- and a hiatal hernia in my esophagus....but I wonder what causes this uncomfortable, rigid belly?

I am not sure... what that could be Shari... have you tried WebMD... normally if you put in your symptoms... they can give you some sort of diagnosis.... How are you feeling?

I got nuttin much here! It sounds like a muscular thing. I'd bet on stress response. I had some kind of thing like that when i was preggers - top of my belly would get all numb like and rigid like. I attributed that to the skin being stretched out. Your should be quite the opposite, tho? I'm not much help.

No, it's more like huge pressure-- maybe gastritis. It's like a balloon inflated under the skin, not a muscle. Stress response? For 12 years? How much stress do you think I have, woman?

Shari I can relate. I have the upper and lower belly fat as well. I, too can get a really hard heavy bloated feeling in my upper belly, it is very uncomfortable and can last for a few hours to a couple of days. The best I can describe mine is I swallowed a BIG ROCK. I don't know what causes it. Sometimes I think it has to do with something I ate, like a certain bar b q sauce, wrecks havoc on me for days.
