Today's the last day of my reign of terror, and lemee tell you something--- that's a good thing! Four days ago, a Saladworks salad was filling and all was well in the world. Since then, I allowed myself "free eating" for a couple days, and let me tell you-- carbs make you eat MORE carbs. The damage so far? Sunday-- Lotsa pasta in cream sauce, lotsa bread, slice of cheesecake, bit of salad. Felt really sluggish after. Monday-- Remaining pasta, 2 pieces bread, bagel with cream cheese, small bag Doritos, small bag Chex Mix, sugar free fudgecicle. Had a carb coma and had to go to sleep. Tuesday-- Half bowl of chile con queso with 3 baskets of tortilla chips, 3 taquitos with sour cream, a third of a quesadilla, sour cream, two fried eggs, a pancake, a piece of French Toast, a cup of soup, two pieces of toast, a piece of sausage and a piece of canadian bacon. After the huge mexican lunch, I went to a diner at 11 pm and ate a big breakfast and soup, and had no trouble at all-- I am acclimating to the crap already. Agh! Every day has been 50% fat and the calories have been unreal. Yesterday was close to 3000 calories! Thing is, there was a time when I probably did that every damn day. JAYZIS! The good news- I exercised a LOT all three days (over 500 cals worth each day) and tomorrow will end my reign of terror as I hit my first liquid diet ever (about 900 cals. a day.) Which is good, because left to my own devices, I'd be freakin' dangerous!

Well yes, it is a good thing that you just have one more "free" day, but it could have been a lot worse in my opinion.  So far you've averaged less than 2300 cals per day and when you add in the 500 cals of exercise for each day you come in way under 2000.  Of course having half of those cals as fat cals is not a good thing but considering that you will be on a liquid diet for over a week (I think right), I just don't see a problem.  I think you're entitled to a last hoorah. So, are you still not feeling any nervousness?

Mostly I'm focused on the next two weeks, but sure, I am nervous. Just not excited. Basically I just kinda want it the hell over with already, you know? My biggest worries at the moment are: 1) Will I be able to maintain this? 2) Will I be in buckets of pain? 3) WIll I be able to exericse while on liquids or will I feel crappy? 4) How soon after can I get back in the pool? The next couple weeks need to go very fast, for alotta reasons. I just want to get this show on the road!

It's amazing how we can go through life grazing and not realize what kinda crap we are putting into our body sometimes. Once I started trying to eat balanced meals, a bag of doritos would shock my system and EVERY thing I pick up in the store I read the nutritional content on the side before it goes into  the buggy! DD tells everyone it takes mom three hours to go to the store....LOL!

LOL...funny how you left off veggies, basically.  (I rarely consider most salads a good source of veggies, btw).  I read that most people who have rny miss them the most!  Left to my own taste buds and inner drives, i would eat exactly the same things you just listed...lots of pastas, breads, sauces.  I think you did very well overall! Great job moving and grooving the whole time.

Yeah Shari I think I know what you mean when you say you just want it over with.  Sometimes the anticipation is a killer.  Now for your concerns: 1) Will I be able to maintain this? From the little I know about you I think you will.  I can't imagine that you would go through all of what you've already gone through and what you will be going through to screw it all up by reverting back to your old habits. 2) Will I be in buckets of pain? Well, you may be but pain can be managed.  They will manage your pain with an while you're in the hospital (namely morphine right after surgery).  I know from experience that that morphine pump is a thing of beauty.  Once you leave they will probably prescribe something for you to take home.  No need to be in pain. 3) WIll I be able to exericse while on liquids or will I feel crappy? I think just as long as you're getting enough protein you should be okay. 4) How soon after can I get back in the pool? I don't know if your concern is more about exercise specifically or exercise that involves water and chlorine in particular.  Only your doctor can answer that question. Shari, I think you will be just fine.  You better be!!
