Introducing Myself

Hi Bridget - glad to see you here Sorry that you had trouble with your band but so glad that you're okay.  I recently did some research on the band myself and read about the possibility of band erosion.  I understand your attitude about not getting another band or any other WLS.  I'm new here and it was just a few weeks ago that I was sitting in my doctor's office discussing WLS and she was strongly encouraging me to have it even though I was telling her that I wanted to try to lose the weight on my own.  There she was sitting there (all 90 pounds of her) calmly discussing taking a knife to my body and rearranging my innards like it was as simple as removing an unsightly mole.  WTH  So here I am, determined to lose this weight on my own with the help of all of the wonderful people in this forum.  We can do this!!!!! I look forward to getting to know you.

~Tali~

Ya know, Tali...they don't make a DIME off of us if we don't have those surgeries!!!  lol  Once we have them, there's a lifetime of doctor's visits, revisions, etc.  How lucky for THEM...not us!  I appreciate the warm welcome I've received here and YES...we CAN do this!!!!

TEHEEEEEE Bridget, Look at this happy fire you started. Your posts are like your avatar: loads of giggles and a sense of hope. I am not against WLS, heck I might end up on a table soon. Until then: each day that I am in control and am mindful of what I put in my mouth I am a  wonderful statistical anomaly . Thanks for the post about your friend. In my research I found a woman who lost 130lbs and kept it off for 18 years. I emailed her. She is amazing. A cute side note: her old doctor retired and her new one asked if she was using drugs because that kind of weight loss is only sustained artificially. She then said " well young man I guess I am a 68 year old crackhead". I am trying to convince her to post here. So to all of us out there: It is GOOD to be a statistical anomaly in the weight loss universe. I also hope that those vets who have done it will post their expertise. I can use lots of tips to become more abnormal. Thank you Bridget. Smiles from Chunkytown

I'm not against WLS either!  If I had it to do again, I still would have the surgery.  For the first 12 months, it was WONDERFUL!  I started to go downhill about the time my mother did, so it was very easy for me to ignore the signs that I was sick.  Then through her passing, I still focused on her although I was hurting constantly.  Although I'll never know exactly what happened, in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter.  NOW I am in charge of my life.   I love that....a 68 year old crackhead!!  LOL That's a great idea.  Posting what has worked for us!  I like that!!!!

Hi Bridget, Welcome to the board.  I am so sorry you had to have your lap band removed.  I don't blame you for not considering another surgery.  I think I would want to run if I felt like my surgeon was trying to force me into a surgery.  Hope you get to feeling better real soon from your surgery.

Thank you for the warm welcome!  I'm so glad to have found a seat on this porch swing with y'all!  I feel much stronger every day!  I'm just dismayed by the road map on my body!  lol  And the worst of it is where my port/feeding tube was on my chest!  Ewww...lol.

Bridget!!! Hey girl!! I talk to you all the time on the lap band board.  I'm still stuck on this board because I love everyone here.  I came to this board when I was losing my pre-surgery weight.  Welcome aboard!!

Hello Bridget....  Welcom... welcome... welcome....  First.. sorry you had to go thru all that drama... the main thing is that you are okay now... I am pretty new here as well... and those of us Non-WLS.. are trying with all we got to make this weight go away....I have found some people... I think Tali is one that post receipes and Neecee is working on a protein concoction.... so we are all in this right along with ya.... I love your spirit and I can say... a positive spirit serves as motivation... so stay encouraged... and again welcome!!!
