Welcome! I found OH three years ago after reaching my highest weight. I wasn't sure I wanted to have surgery, so I gave myself a year to really try. I never got farther than the info session.
My Latin teacher used to say that all the time: "If you did it once, you can do it again." And she was right!
Hi Blue!
Welcome...first and foremost.
yup, I cried and cried the weekend I got turned down by the local surgeon and my PCP to pursue WLS (lapband for me). But after I dried my tears, I realized that what the hay, I should do all the things without surgery, sooooo, here I am. I did go to a bariatric doc (again), but I am looking at my obesity with new eyes.
I try to think of it as the chronic disease that it truly is: I can never take my eyes off it. It does require constant monitoring, constant evaluation. ***** all I want, doesn't change it.
yeah, whoa...now that'd be sumpthin to complain about - losing your leg. Our issues do seem petty in comparison.
Now, you say you have 100 pounds to lose as compared to a weight you were nearly 20 years ago. Are you sure that weight was a reasonable goal?
Why I ask: I just looked at what WW says my goal weight should be - 116 pounds???? Are they effin' KIDDIN ME? I weighed that in like 4th grade. This minute I weigh 184, and in high school when i was "hot" I weighed 140-150...I could not weigh 116 if i was dying of cancer.
My personal, reasonable goal is 175...if i got to 160 i would be like a pig in sh*t, so happy.
