Tali's Journey - Day 10
Hi all, I’m back in the saddle again. Yesterday when I got in I was so tired that I only lasted a few hours before I could no longer see straight and had to stumble into bed. I slept 9 hours and woke up feeling refreshed this morning. I worked out and brought my Seattle Sutton meals to work with me, so I’m back in the swing of things. About the trip. It was a whirlwind of activity. My girlfriend and I went to Vegas to celebrate her birthday, she had never been before and I had only been once in ’89. There is no comparison between the Vegas of ’89 and the Vegas of today. Use to be you could eat for next to nothing. The plane fare was cheap and so were the hotels. No more, we spent a fortune on everything but it was well worth it. I flew in first class for the very first time and it was quite an experience. We only paid for coach, but my friend has a good friend who works for the airline we flew on and we were bumped up to first class. Wow, what a difference. The seats are roomy, they serve you food that is quite tasty and they even use real glass, silverware and linen napkins. There is no comparison between the way you’re treated in the coach section and the way you’re treated in first class. I think I’m spoiled for good now. We stayed at the Wynn, which is the newest hotel in Vegas. It was absolutely beautiful. I especially loved the bathrooms. The first night we went to see Celine Deon, her show was fantastic. The second night we saw the Cirque du Solei “O” show, and it was breathtaking. The things that those people were able to do just defy the laws of nature and gravity. It was their water show and they dove in and out of the water at unbelievably incredible heights. We were sitting in the third row and got splashed a couple of times, but we didn’t mind. The food was very expensive but very, very good. We ate at many different restaurants. On Saturday morning we both slept in and than ordered room service for our rooms and were treated like queens. From our hotel rooms we could see several other hotels and the bright lights at night were beautiful. On Sunday night I saw a fireworks display from my room. I think it was coming from the Mirage, but I’m not sure. During the day on Sunday we went hotel hopping. At the Venetian we went on a gondola ride, ate gelato and visited the wax museum. At the Bellagio, we visited their beautiful botanical garden and saw the water show. We visited the lions at the MGM. We ate everywhere and spent big bucks doing it. We did a lot of walking, we had to because all the hotels were huge and we had to walk to get to the things we wanted to see in them. We made it our business to play the slot machines at every hotel. I won about $200, but lost $300, but I had fun doing it. All in all, it was a wonderful trip.
