Nutraceuticals?

Anyone know anything about nutraceuticals, or "Vibe 2.0"?  All I know is that its some kind of liquid "super vitamin"  and supposedly gets more fully absorbed by your body than regular vitamins.  I know someone who swears by it.  I'm a little dubious.  Sounds like alot of hooey to me.  Yet I'm curious.... Question Mark

The fact that it's liquid means that it will absorb more easily. I highly doubt the super vitamin claim.  I suspect all they did was increase the amounts of vitamins in each serving.  According to their site it's loaded with antioxidants and plant extracts, nutraceuticals.  The also make claims about particle size and how if the vitamin isn't the right size it can't absorb into the cell.  If we're talking on the cellular level then I must assume that our bodies will break it down to the right "size" so size is irrelevant.  But then I know nothing.

I know nada about that specific product.  As for vitamin absorption in general, i know that the vitamins in real food are absorbed the very best.  The best source of vitamins and minerals (more fully assimilated) is when the vit/mineral is part of an animal source,i.e., the iron in beef, the calcium in milk, etc.  Why?  because we are animals too so we are chemically the same (or very close!) Plant sources have less success:  the iron in spinach is not as well assimilated for example and is more easily disrupted when there is animal calcium ingested in the same meal.  Lots of dieticians will tell you that with a balanced diet, supplements are not needed. However, most admit that a low cal diet points toward taking supplements.

i know I barely if ever get the full amount of calcium eating less than 1500 calories daily. Iron, too.  So I take a multi vitamin. I'm not sure i would spend too much money toward supplements than I currently do.  I take fish oil tablets, once in a while flax seed tablets, and a daily multi every day. The main reason is that I am not 100% positive that what I take is being fully absorbed!  Hey, it's worth a try to see if they do make a difference. I feel energetic most days, no health issues that lead me to think I need more.

I took the omega-3/fish oil supplements for a while myself. I could not get over the deep sea tasting burps!
