Tali's Journey - Day 5
I have my annual physical this afternoon at 2:00. What the heck possessed me to schedule a physical for so late in the day when I have to get blood work done and can’t eat anything until after the appointment? It’s only 10:00 and I’m starving, in fact my stomach was growling while I was working out at 5:30 this morning. Okay, I’m going to try to not think about food, or lack thereof, but it will be difficult. During my physical I’m going to talk with my doctor about my weight issues. I’ve already alerted her that I’m going to need her assistance in that endeavor. I’m thinking that I could check in with her once a month to get weighed and give a progress report. That way she can document everything in case I end up going to WLS route. But, I’ll make sure she understands that WLS is not what I want, and I’m willing to do whatever I have to do to avoid it. I’m hoping she’ll prescribe me an appetite suppressant without making me go to the Bariatric department. Besides my physical, it’s going to be a very busy today. I still have to find a few things to wear for my Vegas trip. Can’t believe that I’ll be leaving tomorrow morning and I still have so much to do when I get home. Besides packing I have to get my house in order. I always make sure that my house is in good shape before I leave for a trip. I hate to come home to a messy house. And my house is pretty messy right now, so I have some work to do. I’ll be getting very little sleep tonight. There is a lot of picking up, mopping, vacuuming and general cleaning in my immediate future. I’m hoping to be able to get to bed by midnight and get a few hours of sleep before I have to get up and get ready to leave. I’m also planning to workout before I leave in the morning. I’m taking two peeled oranges with me to the doctor’s office, I’ll devour them in the cab on the way back to the office.

You got quite a day ahead of you... Don't you hate cleaning.. I wish things would pick themselves up. Ha! Seems like you are going to be very tired tonight. Then you are going to work out early tomorrow morning. Sounds like you are going to burning some major calories this evening and tomorrow morning with all the ripping, running, cleaning, and exercising. Good luck at your annual physical too! You'll have a good night's rest when you get to Vegas.
Talk about anti-climatic, according to my doctor I’m in perfect health, except for the fact that I’m obese of course. My blood pressure was fantastic, and according to her scale I’m 247 pounds. Now I know that I’ve lost a couple of pounds since Saturday but I don’t think I’ve lost nearly 10 pounds in that time. Since I’m going to be weighing myself on my own scale once a week, that’s the scale I’m going to follow. I know that all scales are different, but that’ a big difference. I will be weighing myself tomorrow morning before I leave for the airport because my weigh-in day is Saturday and I, of course, won’t be at home.
We did talk about my weight issue and she encouraged me to attend the wellness center at the hospital. As if reading my mind, she said that at the center they try to avoid giving the patients medication like appetite suppressants. They encourage people to make lifestyle changes. They have a nutritionist, dietician, psychologist, etc. We also talked a little bit about WLS and she’s all for it. I told her that WLS will be my last resort and she said to keep it in the back of my mind as a solution to the problem. I don’t think I’m going to contact the wellness center, at least not yet. I’m gonna wait and see if I can do this thing on my own and with the help of all my new friends at OH.
Two sort of funny things happened at the doctor. I was supposed to give a urine sample and I was ready to do just that when I got there, cause I’ve had nothing bu****er all day. Well, I missed the little cup completely, not so much as a drop went into the cup. So, that was that. The blood work went much better, probably because I didn’t have the needle in my own hand.
I will have to wait a few days for the results of the blood work. Oh, I said there were two funny things. The other thing was that as my doctor was typing all of my information into the computer as we talked, she mentioned my age as 52. I told her no, I’m 53. She did the math, and I’m 52. Can you believe that? Well, math has never been my strong suit, but that’s ridiculous.
