Tali's Journey - Day 4

Wow, it’s day 4 already – time is moving pretty quickly.  I’m continuing to like the Seattle Sutton meals.  It’s official, I do not like Brussels sprouts.  The next time I get that particular meal I will substitute another veggie.  The cabbage roll for dinner wasn’t that bad, it wouldn’t be my first choice but I can tolerate it once a month.  A freshly made granola bar was served for breakfast this morning and it was quite good.  Oh, I did find out that I was mistaken when I said yesterday that all of Seattle Sutton’s meals are between 250 and 350 calories.  Some of their meals are as high as 400 and 500 calories, but regardless of the calories of the individual meals, they add up to 1200 calories per day.  Other than that I have nothing new to report other than I worked out again this morning – yoohooo!!

I know what you mean on the Brussell sprouts. I thought I'd try some frozen ones in butter sauce.. They were bitter as hell!  I wonder if anyone can prepare them where they are tasty?

I don't know if that's possible Bud.  You would need to have some exceptional culinary skills to make those things tasty.

Actually, being tortured by my parents as a child with said brussel sprouts I have come up with a way to make them taste good. Luckily, I am no longer forced to eat them, however as a child I requested the ketchup bottle with which I drowned the evil things in. They're edible at that point.  I used to hold my nose when I ate them too.  Helps the ketchup do it's trick! :)  As an adult I tried them one other time to see if I liked them.  I took one bite and then directly starting having a panic attacked and proceeded to lurch and spew the brussel sprout back out.  They are not good... not good at all.

Okay so this may not be the healthiest way, but........my grandmother used to make them all the time.  She would put buttered breadcrumbs ontop of them.  (Just add butter and breadcrumbs in a sauce pan, cook  until melted and stirred together).  It is really yummy.  I'm not really fond of brussel sprouts any other way except smothered with fattening goodness.  Obviously I dont' eat this anymore.  It's probably two days worth of calories alone!

lol...You 2 are funny with the B.sprouts!  I actually love em! lol.. I know what you mean about the bitterness, what I do is to not eat the part closest to the "stem".  Like eat from the tip to the stem.  Also not eating the center seems to have a more mellow flavor. But to each thier own, I hate cooked peas!

Oh lordy, lordy.  I'm having a moment of panic.  I'm leaving for Vegas on Friday and yesterday I just  started thinking about what outfits I'm going to wear to the two shows we're going to see.  We're going to see Celine Deon and one of the Cirque shows, I think it's Cirque O.  Anyway, I was determined that I wasn't going to buy anything new to wear for this trip, but because I'm the highest weight I've ever been I have no choice.  I broke down this afternoon and bought a new dressy top but I couldn't find an appropriate pear of pants to go with it so I decided to take the chance that I could find something at home that would go with it.  Thankfully I did find some slacks that will go with the top.  It's not a combination that I would normally wear, but it'll do in a pinch.  So, now that I had the one outfit out of the way I started trying on outfits for the second affair.  I tried several outfits and I looked like I was about to explode in them.  A sneeze or a cough would send pieces of material flying through the air.   Now I have no other choice but to try to find a second outfit tomorrow.  Thank goodness I don't have to worry about casual clothes to wear during the day, I have all that I need.  Oh, the tortures of being fat.  I so look forward to the day when I can go to my closet and pick out any number of outfits to wear for any ocassion.

Just concentrate on having fun, Tali -- it does wonders for helping yourself eat right (IMO). But believe me, I understand because I have had those moments. How were the brussels sprouts they sent you prepared? I actually love them most ways, but roasted with a little olive oil I really think they are great. Not that I will eat ANYTHING. You couldn't get me to come within 10 feet of an olive even if my life depended on it. Anyway, enjoy Vegas! I haven't been there since I was 15, and with my parents! It's not really Vegas that way, so you could say I've never been there.

I agree with Sonora. I've also had those moments where I have terrible anxiety about how I will look and what to wear and if anyone notices. It's all in the head. Enjoy the moment, you'll find yourself more at ease if you relax, smile, and live! Now those damn Brussell sprouts... ketchup...Bread crumbs.. roasted... err. I dunno about those options.. The chef at work drenches them in cheese.. Like Brocolli... I tried them like that.. Still bitter as hell!...What a waste of queso! They would be awesome if they tasted like cabbage! I'm not crazy about peas either.. Especially the booger peas!
