Wouldn't it be nice?

If they could fix it so that with a long post like the one we had yesterday you could skip your previously read posts? And maybe the ones that have replies come back up to the top?

I agree and it is possible because I've been on quite a few message boards where you are able to read posts in a number of different ways (most recent posts first, most recent posts last, only unread posts), etc.  So, it definitely can be done, and would save a heck of a lot of time endlessly scrolling to get to the bottom.

The board has some quirks that I definitely do not like.  I still haven't figured out how to quote partial messages and something like that should be intuitive.  I do not like how message threads stay sorted in order by the date they were posted, I agree that threads with the most recent posts should be sorted in descending order buy most recent activity.  I've resorted to using the "Recent Posts" option, but I find that difficult to work with often.  The boards performance on internet explorer sucks compared to it's performance under Firefox, and don't even try using the forums on a somewhat older Mac.  Brrr.

Hear, hear! I'm with you, Bertholomew. These blasted boards and the ridiculous habit of posts staying in chronological order is a pain in the biscuits. If they'd switch to a more intuitive model, I could continuously *bump* my own posts and feel a temporary rush of supremacy... You know, it's like, good for me an' stuff.

Shari has quoted partial messages before.  I don't know how she did it either.  Perhaps she will enlighten us.  Pretty please?

You can set it so that the most recent replies come to the top. Over to the left click on User Settings. Scroll down and near the bottom you can click on a preference to have the most recent replies at the top. Now all we need is a "Skip to my last read post" button.

Yeah, you can bring to the top the most recent topic that has been replied to, but that doesn't help with the replies within the topic, they still remain in chronological order so you still have to scroll to the bottom of the posts.

Yeah, I know.  That's why I reckon they need to add a "Skip to my last read post" button.
