Tali's Journey - Day 3

Okay, I’m moving right along.  Started eating the Seattle Sutton meals yesterday, so far I’ve had one dinner and one breakfast – they were both delicious.  Not sure about today’s dinner though, it’s some kind of a cabbage roll on a bed of rice (or something like that).  I’m not fond of cabbage, but I’m willing to be open-minded about this.  The veggie with my lunch this afternoon is Brussels sprouts.  I have never had a Brussels sprout in my life (I don’t think), so that will be a new experience.  The meals are very good, but they’re small.  It’ll take me a while to get use to eating much smaller meal portions.  All of the meals seem to range between 250 and 350 calories which is not enough for me so I add stuff.  Not every meal comes with a vegetable so when it doesn’t I’ll add a vegetable.  I’m also eating fruit twice a day for snacks and having a fruit smoothie for dessert after my dinner.  So, after I’ve added all my supplemental food, I’m eating about 1600 calories per day which is where I want to be.  I don’t want to go over 1800, but I always eat more on the weekends, so hopefully everything will balance itself out.

I worked out again this morning – yeah me.

Seattle Sutton Meals? Are those like Lean Cuisines that you can buy i na store...or pre packaged meals from a company? Kind of like Nutrisystem?

No, Seattle Sutton meals are made fresh and delivered to your home twice a week.  The company was built with the purpose of providing healthy meals and improve eating habits and overall health.  All of the meals follow the recommended daily dietary guidelines and nothing is prepackaged.  They also do not serve red meat or pork, only fish, chicken and turkey.  The food cannot be purchased in a store but is distributed in many cities throughout the U.S, their website address is seattlesutton.com.  I don't have the time to plan or cook healthy meals every day, so this works well for me.

Well, unfortunately all of these food home delivery type deals are a little pricey.  You're paying for convenience.  I don't know if the pricing varies from city to city or different Seattle Sutton distributors, but I'm paying $110.00 a week for the meals and an extra $15.00 for delivery.  $125.00 a week may seem like a lot, and it is, but when I take into account how much I spend on food every week, it's kind of a bargain.  I grocery shop every week spending $80-$120 each trip (closer to $120 most trips).  That doesn't include the money I spend while at work buying my breakfast, lunch and my usual $5.00 cup of gormet coffee.  Now that I'm buying the Seattle Sutton meals I'll only need to get a few items at the grocery store, I'm bringing my breakfast, lunch and snacks to work with me so I'm not spending money while at work and I've cut out the coffee, or should I describe it as my hot milk shake.  Because at 600 calories a cup there's a lot more than coffee in that drink.  Everything is relative though, buying these meals is cheaper and easier for me.  But, I live alone and don't have to worry about food for the rest of the family.
