embarrassing question

I've put on the last 40 pounds in the past 8 mos.  As a result there are some new issues that I have to deal with.   The most embarrassing one is...... sigh, I'm having trouble "taking care of business" after I go to the bathroom.  I can't reach.  Anyone have any suggestions? Please feel free to answer by PM - so people don't have to read about it on the msg board. I can't believe I wrote this. Thanks, Jean

I've had trouble not only "taking care of business", but in cleaning my genital area.  Since I've lost 13 pounds, it's gotten a little better.  But after wiping myself from a bowel movement, my right shoulder is often sore, from the stretching.  I can't reach to wipe my genital area, I have to "drip dry" instead.  I feel for you!

Ahh yes, I had this problem as well and it's still somewhat there.  First and foremost, you need room to move!  If it's a public restroom try to get the handicapped stall.  I'm not sure how most people wipe themselves but I have found that it's easier to go under than it is to go around.  One way is no less sanitary than the other.  The way I took care of business was I would spread my right leg out farther than my left and lean forward, lifting off of the seat slightly.  I would kind of pin my arm under my right leg and do my business using the seat and my fat to keep my arm in position.  It is still a little painful but it works.  If you find yourself in a small area then it's almost impossible because you need to be ale to spread your legs to allow yourself room.  We all have problems similar to this and they are embarrassing but I don't think anyone is going to think differently of you or me for having this problem or figuring out a way to overcome it!  Ultimately losing 34 lbs has increased my ability to take care of myself. It's not longer painful and I still don't reach around. :)

Great description Chris!   Yeah I have that problem too.  It's gradually gotten better since I've lost weight but I have turn to the right and pin my elbow between me and the back of the toilet, then lean down to push my hand in the seat-hole and wipe that way.  Ridiculous, but necessary.  Jean, most important part of this post: you're not alone.

I shall continue my ol'-fashoined way contortions(no pictures please!) : ) After a little net surfing all the apparattuses(spelling??) I saw were either scary and or rediculously expensive! Who in thier right mind would buy a butt sprayer to install in the toilet, and pay over $700?!  If I had such money to burn, I'd get a personal trainer and cook!  Jean
