Tali's Journey - Day 2

Well, I started the day off right by working out.  I've found that if I don't do my exercise first thing in the morning, the chances are nil to none that I'll get it done.  It will take me a couple of weeks to really get back into an exercise groove, but it felt good this morning.  I'm doing just enough for it to be a challenge but not so much that I burn myself out. I just spoke with my mother (we live in the same building), and my Seattle Sutton food has arrived so my first Seattle Sutton meal will be dinner this evening.  I brought my breakfast and lunch to work today.  I forgot to bring fruit to have as snacks, so I'll either do without the snacks or get some fruit from the cafeteria. Oh, I decided that I'm not going to continue with my colon cleanse just yet.  I'm going to be in Vegas from Friday through Sunday (coming back on Monday), so I'm going to wait until after this vacation to start the cleanse.  Because I definitely will not be cleansing while I'm in Vegas so I rather just wait until after the trip to start.

it sounds like things are right on track for you! many people agree with your exercise sentiment. just get it done first thing in the morning, then its over with you and metabolism is charged up for the whole day. let us know how the seattle sutton works for you. as for colon cleanse, your body is pretty much capable of cleansing itself which is why colonics etc are generally not recommended by medical people. but you brought up vegas so i wanted to respond.....have you started planning for how you will handle your trip? how will you act differently then you did on your last vacation? i am a big believer in that its better to try and adapt rather than give yourself the excuse to be "off plan" for the trip and then get back "on plan" when you return. you'll need to learn how to assimilate your changes into normal life in order to be successful, whi*****ludes restaurant eating, vacations etc. do they have a gym at your hotel? what kind of restaurant options are available? can you share entrees with your travel companions? many in vegas are buffet style, which is usually a dieters nightmare. can you make a tenative plan? (i.e. salads for lunch w/ lean protein and dressing on the side). if you are stuck at a buffet, how will you handle it? limit it to one trip then put a piece of mint gum in your mouth? what about alcohol? 3 drinks per night? wine vs 400 calorie frozen daiquiri? buy a pedometer if you don't want to make gym time - vegas can be a good walking place but can also be an extremely dangerous place for someone trying to live a healthy lifestyle. invest in a good eating out guide that will help you make better choices. anyway you may have thought of all this already, just thought i'd throw it out there. what is your plan? sucess requires planning!

Andrea -- I agree with you, success does require planning.  Seattle Sutton doesn't serve red meat or pork, so I'm going to continue with that theme in Vegas and stick with chicken and fish (nothing fried though). Turkey is an option too but may be hard to find, but maybe not.  I'll make sure to eat plenty of veggies and stay away from things like french fries, mashed potatoes, white rice and gravies.  Won't say I'll stay away from desserts but will share them with my girlfriend.  I'm sure that I will not have more than 3 drinks per day.  As far as exercise is concerned, I'm leaving Friday morning but will workout before I leave.  My hotel has a gym but we'll be doing so much walking around that I won't feel guilty about not making it to the gym.  I don't workout on Sundays anyway so really the only day I'll be without formal exercise is Saturday. How are you feeling? Have you been able to get up and walk around yet?

sounds like a plan. i just wanted to throw some things out there to think about, if you hadn't already thought about them - although it appears that you have! definitely nothing wrong with dessert - we're all human afterall! but picking just one and sharing it with another person is a great plan. i choose not to drink most of the time because i'd rather save the calories for dessert! eating out is such a challenge so just try your best to remain aware and vigilant of your ultimate goals and have fun! we'll definitely want to hear about how you did when you get back.
