Introducing Myself to the Group

Thanks Andrea -- I gave Seattle Sutton a call to find out how much the weekly meals would be.  Because I live alone I only have to worry about myself so although the meals are a little pricey, I can swing it.  Cooking a week's worth of healthy meals has always been a problem for me on previous weight loss attempts.  It seems like having to cook all those meals is just one more thing to have to worry about.  How can I be expected to prepare three healthy meals and exercise too.  Going the Seattle Sutton route will just take some of the pressure off me. As far as finding a place to exercise is concerned, I don't have to worry about that.  I have a gym in my basement with several pieces of equipment and other workout paraphernalia.  All I have to do is walk my lazy butt down two flights of stairs.  Don't worry, I won't give up, heck I haven't really gotten started yet.

since you are on your own....if you are interested in meal delivery - here are a few other options with different plans. its really nice not to have to think about what you're going to be eating or planning things out. obviously they aren't practical for long-term, but can be good when you're first starting - or like i said, during time of stress.  i have not personally used these 3 as i am way too picky and don't eat a lot of things (like fish and beef). i used a local service that allowed you to customize it a lot. they each have substitution policies and ways to change things around but if you generally like most things, then it could work for you. some do allow you to do just like 5 days or only lunch and dinner or something. i have a friend who did the first two and liked them - he thought diet to your door was a little more fresh but regardless, all have to be better than things like nutrisystem where everything comes in powdered or canned form... diet to your door - although it appears to have changed names http://www.bistromd.com/ diet to go http://www.diettogo.com/01/ e- diets  http://www.deliciouslyyours.com/ thats great that you have equipment in your house. how could you find an incentive to go down there? perhaps keep something else in the basement that you need on a regular basis - like store your excess toilet paper or paper towels or bottled water down there so that you are forced to go down there and cannot ignore than exercise machines....

Thanks Andrea, you are full of good tips and suggestions.  I've already made arrangements with Seattle Sutton, so I'll give them a try for awhile.  They will start delivering Monday.  You're right, I certainly can't have food delivered long-term, but it will be a Godsend for the first 2 or 3 months at least.  I have already tried e-diets Deliciously Yours.  The food is very good but it was just out of my price range.  It wouldn't have been so bad if the delivery charges weren't so steep.  At least with Seattle Sutton, there is one not very far from me and they only charge $15.00 for delivery, and that's for twice a week which is something else that I like.  Although the e-Diets food was fre**** was delivered only once a week.  I like the idea of having the food delivered twice a week.  Don't know how Seattle Sutton was when you tried it but now they do not offer any beef or pork, only chicken, turkey and fish.  Thank goodness I like all of those, and can happily live without beef or pork.  What I might not like though is from what I understand you really can't pick and choose your meals.  What they're serving for the week is what everyone gets.  Don't know how that's going to work for me so we'll have to wait and see.  Also, they serve three meals and two snacks, and don't offer any other combinations.  We'll see..... About my basement.  It has a very large storage area where I keep a bulk supply of toilet paper, paper plates, tissues, paper towels, can goods, extra fridge and freezer, not to mention the washer and dryer.  In order words, I go down to the basement on a regular basis and usually pass the exercise equipment like it isn't even there.

Good for you!  I twice considered the WLS, and chickened out the first time, and when I considered it the second time, our insurance had changed and they no longer covered it.  So I tried Weigh****chers, and failed, then finally, ended up in Overeaters Anonymous, where I've been moderately successful.  I am on a 1600-calorie diabetic diet, and have lost 13 pounds so far (gained one pound back this past month - didn't try hard enough).  During our yearly vacation, I ordered mostly healthy foods in the restaurants we went to, so hopefully, I didn't gain any more.

Good for you too Denise!!  I've spent a lot of time this weekend reading many of the posts in the different forums and the more I read the more I feel that WLS is not for me.  Yes, there are a lot of success stories, but there are also quite a few horror stories as well.  I feel more and more certain that it is in my best interest for me to lose the weight the old fashioned way by incorporating a healthy diet and regular exercise.  So, that's what I'm gonna do!  Congrats on your 13 pounds down.  We can do this.....!
