Bad Habits---- even now

What are yours? My worst one is that I consume most of my day's calories at dinner. I eat about 250 at breakfast, 300 at lunch--- and 750 at dinner. I really don't like breakfast and don't work well with a lot of food in me--and my "lunchtime" at work is 10:45 (TOO EARLY!) but I work out after work and go home and then am quite hungry. I know it's wrong, but after quitting soda, and caffeine, and about 2000 other calories a day, I think I am keeping ths bad habit until after surgery. For whatever reason, it works for me. SO--- what do you do that you think you shouldn't?

May i comment on your dinner?  A calorie has the same value at 8:00 a.m. as it did twelve hours earlier.  Unless a person goes over her caloric needs for the day, she's okay. The Bob Greene/Oprah thing is why people are confused. Oprah and me get up at 4:30 a.m. most days, so it makes sense that by 7 p.m., she and i have eaten all the calories we need by that time.  Anything after 7 pm is going to be stored as fat. That is why Bob advised her that way. Don't feel bad about that.  My body is the same way.  My digestive system/brain centers for hunger don't even wake up in my bod til late afternoon.  That's why it works for me to eat most of my calories at supper too.  My consistent bad habit?  standing up to get more food when i have had a plateful.  When I'm on my game, that simple movement does not happen. In weak moments, i ask my DH to take my plate into the kitchen cuz I fear i will short stop at the stove to gob another bite or two of food still in the pans on the stove.

I don't pay Greene a lotta mind-- I don't dig the dude. But my nutritionist wants me to balance better so I am in the habit when I am eating a spoonful of whatever and have to live on it post-op...which makes sense. I just decided I will cross that bridge when I get to it. I am lucky in that I live alone. I only heat up what I can eat in a sitting. It really does make life easier. My Sig Ot has a 14 year old, and never feels like cooking anymore because it's hard to make a casserole you can't eat. The kid's not about to start eating as healthfully as we are and Sig Ot won't make him. My other stupidest dumbino head habit-- which is related to yours-- is that if I am allotted 1300 calories-- I WILL eat them, often--- even if I am sated.  I have this dumb feeling I am entitled!

OMG that is SO me!  Last night I did that!  Had a YUMMY dinner with shake n bake chicken with glazed carrots and some pasta salad and what did I do???  Stopped at the stove after dropping off the plate grabbed about 4 gobs of pasta salad and another leg of chicken.  So out of control.  I'm not sure I'm ever gonna get back on track!  Frustating but at least I'm not gaining yet!

One way to handle that, Chris, is to have everyone serve themselves-- and then before you eat-- put the leftovers in the fridge.
