Need support

Hello to you all!! I have read some of your post and you are all so inspirational.  I am looking for a support person/coach to get me going.  I am a 32 year old post RNY patient.  I lost 140# and have since the delivery of my daughter 16 months ago, regained #60. I used to exercise 2 hours a day including running.  Well those of you who have children know finding time is hard, especially since  I am a single mom.  I love to be with my daughter, we do walk and bike.  I am looking for someone to account to and talk to when I feel the urge to over eat for the wrong reasons.  Also who I can report my weights to.  I am ready to get this under control for good, for me and my daughter.   I thought when I had this surgery all my weight problems would be gone.  I found out the hard way, and now my physician are finally getting me help for the eating disorder.  I wish we would have did this prior to the surgery, maybe I would have regained so much.  But I am determined to win this battle.  Thanks  Kourtney

Hiya, Kourtney.  Yes, there are lots of inspirational people here.  I'm not one of them, but I will say, welcome. Motherhood certainly changes everything all right.  And doing it on your own must be more difficult than i can imagine.  I take my hat off to you.  I looked at your profile and your baby girl is beautiful.  I especially love the b&w photo when she was 6 wks old.  (Can you tell I'm a little clucky? I already have 4 though, and that is quite enough.) I'm glad you are getting help with your eating disorder.  Hopefully that will help you with your weight-loss struggle. As far as time for exercise, can you get a jogging stroller and take Kennady with you? Or get someone to look after her while you exercise.  Taking time to take care of yourself is not being selfish.  It is beneficial to your daughter as well.

Hi Kourtney!  If i were queen, i would not grant wls unless my subjects had been in 6 months couseling, whether it was Overeaters Anonymous or a one on one to either rule out an eating disorder or get it under wraps first!

Many of us have been moms with younguns around, and where there is a will there is a way to exercise. Eating right is number one when it comes to weight loss, though. Exercise just helps you be more efficient and more toned up in the process.

Stick around...come back!!!

I'm sure anyone on this board will be happy to be your "buddy" as you progress in your efforts to stay on track.  Just post here, or if  you prefer, private message or email someone you feel comfortable with.  As far as the exercise is concerned, remember that every little bit helps.  You don't have to do big blocks of exercise.  If you add 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there, that is 20 minutes more than you were doing the day before.  Also remember there are all kinds of little things you can do to increase the amount of exercise you get in your daily life.  Park the car at the back of the parking lot instead of close to the building.  Take a couple flights of stairs.  All these things *do* add up.  Personally I am even starting to find it satisfying to park far away from anything I'm walking into these days just because I can.

Hi Kourtney and welcome to our group.  You will find support and fun in this great group of people.  Feel free to post any time with anything, whether it's weight related or even a bad day.  If you feel more comfortable not posting your specific weight and losses/gains that's fine too.  I'm sure you'll find a buddy to help; or us all of us.  I've found a lot of support this last 3 weeks. It's too bad that doctors don't require therapy for those who want to have WLS.  To make sure that any eating disorders or other problems that would affect the success of the surgery would be well dealt with.  I'm sure glad you are getting the help you need for your eating disorder. I wish you the best of luck.  Again, welcome. Oh, on another note...I can understand how hard it must be to get in exercise with a child.  I just visited my cousin and she has two young sons, ages 4 and 2.  We did go for a walk last night and I did get to see how much TIME that she probably gets to herself.  I'm guessing it's only when they take a nap and then she naps because she's so exhausted.  If you can swing it, you might want to look into getting a sitter for your daughter.  That way you can take even one hour of time for yourself to really exercise, etc.  YOU deserve this time for youself.
