I am not sure why my initial post shown as posted by MA1 as opposed to me, "venividivici_ca", did not post correctly, but nonetheless I am the one who made it just to clear some things up. I am 22, just to clear that up Shari.  I did mention that myself at 16 so I can see how that would cause a mix up. Anyway, as I said I have been looking into the WLS for over 4 years now and I look at it as a last resort.  I have tired countless diets, I went to a camp in the US when I was 11, however while I may have shown some initial success one thing led to another and my weight just kept going up. Over the past 6 years I have gone from 375lbs all the way up to 720lbs.  I dropped 63lbs between September-November and kept it off for a few weeks but then over the past 5 months I gained 120lbs.  I was going to a medically supervised weight loss clinic and it worked however I was eventually unable to make it there 3 times a week and things fell apart. I sort of agree and disagree on the whole teens and WLS debate.  I think that a person has the right to make a decision however there should be guidelines like there are for adults, at least in North America and by most scrupulous surgeons.  Don't forget that clinics have patients meet with psychologists who then forward on their decision to a surgeon as to whether the individual is comprehensive enough to undergo such a dramatic and life altering event.  It is a very touch and go situation and really the thing that is hanging in the balance is whether the teen who wants to undergo WLS will die because of their weight. My decision has not been taken lightly.  I have not jumped the gun but I suppose that might also be because I am a Canadian and there are no surgeons up here that I am aware of who would work with me now or even when I was around 400-450lbs. Would I love to drop the weight on my own?  You bet I would.  I am just not sure if it is even feasible anymore as the program that worked for me was $1200CDN every 8 weeks and then the cost of food.  I had a family member covering this cost but it seems very unlikely that I would get the help financially again. Myself personally, I have contacted Dr. Garth Davis from Big Medicine as he is one of very few surgeons who will even consider individuals like myself.  However if I could do this myself I would rather take that route.  The unfortunate thing is I need to get a significant amount of weight off quickly. It is tough no matter what way you look at it.  I think a lot of people are afraid of dying because of their obesity and with the popularization of WLS look to it to solve everything. I admire your effort to and determination to lose the excess weight as it is not an easy thing to do.  If you do not mind my asking, how long ago did this take place?
